Its absolutely worth going back to. Its a fantastic game as well and if you liked Shadows Over Loathing you'll enjoy West of Loathing

West is absolutely worth playing if you liked this. You will find your character class matters a lot more, while also not being nearly as restricted in terms of stats. There are some pretty insane puzzles, though.

Its also way more nonlinear than Shadows Over Loathing is. Doesn't have an actual storyline either other than 'Going west to make your fortune'. Not saying this as a complaint, just saying thats a key difference in narrative between SoL and WoL.

This so very much. WoL references KoL a lot and in turn, SoL references both of the previous games. KoL likes to load slowly these days (being a VERY old browser game), but it's been what, 14 years? and I still go back to it on occasion..

Yes, but they are different. Two main differences are the humour and mechanics. While humour is roughly the same, in West of Loathing it is, well... what to call it, more barbaric? More "peasant-ish"? A lot of toilet humour. With Shadow over Loathing I feel like the main writer progressed professionally. It reads differently and all the gross parts seem to be totally intentional and not authentic.

Now, gameplay is also roughly the same, but progression system is way simpler and less thought-out. You will not find yourslef challenged in West of Loathing, not after "learning" it, to tan extent.

While keeping those two in mind, you totally should try it out. You will see if both of these are to your liking before the refund timer runs out. It still is a unique, cool and absurd humour adventure.
