Stupid Walking No Longer Working

At some point the stupid walking animation on all of the shoes I have except the vampire boots have stopped working. All shoes still play their different music, but they just use the normal walk cycle animation. I only just noticed it because I've been using the vampire boots for a while.

At the start of the game the walk cycles were working with the single shoe, for example. So I'm unsure what triggered the bug.

Could have something to do with underwater areas; none of the shoes' animations work underwater except the vampire boots. Might be some flag got stuck on.

I don't think I've been to an underwater area yet (I'm only on chapter 3 on my first playthrough), so that flag might also be used for other areas too. But that would make sense as a likely cause.

Huh! This is very strange. Any chance you could send your character file to us to see if we can figure out what's going on? Save files are named like "save-309182309812398.json" and can be found here:

(where "username" is replaced by your Windows user)
(AppData is hidden by default; click View on the bar at the top of the File Explorer window, then hit the "Hidden items" check box in the Show/hide section)

I got this same problem on switch but instead of normal walking any shoes give me the steel-toed boots walk except for the vampire boots.

New theory -- is your character a little drunk? That'll override shoe animations (except vamp boots) until you sleep it off.
