Trying to project to the key's curse after uncursing the sickle

I didn't solve the key's curse before i uncursed the sickle. Now when i try to project into it, i'm still playing as Ashley instead of the detective and there's nothing i can do except taunt the scarecrow, which doesn't do anything anymore. Additionally, when i get out of the chair, the game gives me the same narration it did when i exited the sickle's curse before solving it.
