Rufus's ending

I just finished my first run. I rushed it because I wanted to see what happens with Rufus's search for his brother. In my run, he just ends up in a cave, looking for him while holding something weird looking. Is this the best solution you can get? Because for some reason Mumflr Fumperdink is more compelling than Mark Iplier.

I've reached the end several times and no matter what you do that's where Rufus ends up, so I think we're just going to have to wait for DLC or even another Loathing game to continue that plot point
