You'll just get "Searchin for a match <200 MS" and, in the rare case you join a game, it'll be shadowbanned players.

If you turn it off, it should be fine.

No, it means they got shadowbanned for being too good (especially when players report you after they die) or for potential hacking/cheating.

Not necessarily, I have no review going on but if my VPN (set to Miami, where I have alright ping) is on, it won't join ♥♥♥♥ other than Quickplay or DMZ. Split tunneled the game (i.e. the VPN doesn't tunnel the game and the game only), it works but I get put in my most close server (Brazil)

my brother couldn't connect the same way OP did, and he thought he had his vpn off. Turned out it was in the background and when he actually turned it off the matchmaking worked instantly.

VPN on will make matchmaking not work +1

(i don't know if it ALWAYS breaks matchmaking, but I can for sure confirm OP's issue was replicated by my bro.
