Call of Duty HQ is terrible
So because MW3 has it's Beta and it's part of COD HQ, I can't play MW2 while it downloads the Beta, it's 23gb which for someone with slow internet is frustrating. It's not the end of the world of course, it's not a massive deal, but the principal of it.

So basically in the future, every time MW3 will have an update that means MW2 will be unplayable until MW3 is updated, and the more COD games that come out on this COD HQ the worse it will get.

Another thing this causes is every COD will have to be on the same drive, so too bad if you've got multiple smaller drives. You'll want a single 500gb drive just for COD.

You know full well that Activision and the developer studios didn't put any thought at all in to this idea because no only does it cause all those problems, but it doesn't actually solve anything and answers a question nobody asked.

It's even more terrible when the game won't launch for a lot of us. And it's the pre-download.

Yeah that's the bad side of HQ, but the good point is all the future updates size is not very large, probably!

Ironic that they like to call MW3 a whole separate game meanwhile they literally make you download the files on the same page/game title. Can't even give us the option to choose not to download, how could they possibly follow many other game devs which make an game accessible during the time of Beta stage.
I'm here to tell you that after downloading 23gb, the game does not launch for me and it keeps saying timed out waiting for playerstats

I didn't even think of this, but COD HQ probably prevents refunds too because Steam will recognise it as just the one game, so if you played MW2 for a bit then you can't refund MW3 because they're the same launcher, and you can't refund DLC at all.

I myself thought this but someone replied to me when I mentioned it saying its still possible to refund, I've also seen a lot of people saying they successfully refunded so it seems to not be the case, somehow. Can't confirm it myself though, still not sure if I want to refund or not yet.

Since it's not released it would work now, but I mean after it comes out. Steam isn't going to know the difference at the end of the day

Technically it is out as it's under the same app as MWII and I thought that was your point, you may be correct unless Valve has setup the ability to log time in the "DLCs" themselves and the developers are actually making use of that ability. Hopefully Valve will step in and find a solution or force Activision to separate games if needed.

Being a Beta I don't own it, but I'd be curious to also know if the Beta hours effect the refund of the full game, because again, it's the same launcher. But yeah Valve might need to step in but only if it is a problem, it might not be but I don't see how it'd properly work with nothing in place to differentiate the games.

Every time I try to close the Call of Duty Hq is crashes. I can still play mw2 but when I launch mw3 it immediately crashes. This Hq idea needs to be scrapped for future cods
