BO6 CRASH FIX WORKING NVIDIA GPUS
Hello, so i did some digging and found a fix for the crashing. i was having directX errors since release. i found this support page ( https://support.activision.com/black-ops-6/articles/pc-system-requirements-for-black-ops-6 ) and near the bottom it shows the recommended driver for BO6 as 560.70. I downloaded 560.70 off of nvidias driver search on their site ( https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/ ) and installed the STUDIO driver NOT the game ready driver as the studio drivers are made as a latest update with stability in mind. I then CLEAN uninstalled the current drivers on my system with DDU and installed the new one. Make sure you re-load shaders after installing the 560.70 driver. Back to playing on all high settings with no tweaks and have zero crashes! hope this works for everyone else, 3 other friends confirmed it fixed their issue as well. Enjoy! :steamhappy:

This unfortunately did not work for me. I made sure to use DDU to remove the old drivers and installed the recommended driver, but it still crashed for me.

After digging around in the crash logs, I found that the game is either not being allocated VRAM correctly or the tracking tells the application that it does not have enough VRAM. Either way, this causes the game to crash thinking it is out of memory.

I think a lot of the fixes you see online will not work because of this. To different degrees, this is an issue. Maybe some changes people make on their systems work because it forces the game to track memory usage more correctly, but I've tried just about every solution online to no avail.
thats a hardware issue
It isn't a hardware issue when the game crashes, specifies not enough vram in the crash log, and your vram was not maxed out at the time of the crash. The game is busted in quite a few ways.
Anyone have any luck lately? I get a blue screen crash at least once while playing off the game pass version. Wasnt having bsod before and its the only game this happens with, i was wondering if rolling back the drivers would help but it seems it doesn't from what im reading right?

thats a hardware issue
Possibly, but to assume that the hundreds, likely thousands of players reporting this issue are all experiencing hardware issues is bold. I didn't experience this issue in Black Ops 6 Open Beta or in any Call of Duty game prior to this one. Same hardware. I also have zero issues playing other games. I need to reiterate that I am not running out of VRAM when playing this game. The GPU crash log states that the GPU ran out of memory, but at the top of the log it tells me that there was a ton of available VRAM left to use, so it's something with how the game is scheduling/allocating memory, or with how DirectX 12 is being used within the game. I don't know all the technicals, but what I do know is that it's up to Activision to figure out what's causing this problem. I've done my due diligence trying to figure out this issue, it's not the consumer's fault when the game is literally the only common denominator.

Windows 11 currently has a hold for build version 24H2 it’s possible the problems affecting Ubisoft games with this cumulative update is also causing issues for black ops 6 users and directx. Users that don’t have a issue might not have updated windows in some time.

I don't think Windows version has much bearing on this issue, actually. It fixed it for some, but the severity depends on each setup. I was just reading a thread on Reddit detailing the issue where upgrading or downgrading between Windows 11 versions and even back to Windows 10 did not make the crash better. Some felt the crash got even worse.
I did some digging on this because it was driving me insane. If you're having this issue, do me a favor and run CrashLogsGenerator.exe in your game folder.

Then drill into that zip file and pick any of the other zip files inside crash_reports. Then look at the gpu_crash-buncha_numbers.txt.

If at the top it says "WARNING: Memory allocation changed and was not yet taken in account"

And then mentions a "Deficit: Whatever MB"

There is nothing. And I repeat NOTHING. That you can personally do to totally fix this error. I've been testing this bug for days on both my setups. One Win10 and the other Win 11 23h2. 2 diff gpu brands with diff VRAM amounts. Having a GPU with more VRAM can help this error take much longer to appear, but the game will trigger this error before you are out of actual gpu memory.

THE GAME NEEDS TO BE FIXED, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. ANY CURRENT FIX IS ALL PLACEBO.

The VRAM scale setting does nothing except compress the base textures needed at any time. The game will fill the rest of your vram with cache and streamed textures from there up to whatever the hell it wants. While doing this it will show an incorrect usage percentage in the in-game telemetry as compared to other monitoring software while it does so. The game does not dump out unused textures properly and eventually will think it has run out of memory for needed textures whether you have vram to spare or not.

This is an engine bug that has been in since MW19/OG Warzone. If we as players collectively do not ♥♥♥♥♥ at Treyarch/Activision about this, nothing will change. And based on me looking this thing up, we haven't hardly made a peep about it in the last 4 years.
In my particular case, I can play the game for hours upon hours and be fine 95% of the time. However for me, Hideout is the map with the most textures/texture variety, and unless I stare at a wall the whole time, cannot go for longer than 90 seconds without triggering the bug. Like I think I've crashed on maybe one other map but that was after a crazy day off binge of having the game running for like 8 hours. Try that map if you have this error a lot and lemme know if you've made it through a full match there.
