Game won't stop verifying files

I can't launch the game ever since I downloaded the latest update... or rather, since I tried to download it. The update seems to fully download just fine, but then Steam validates the whole game and starts downloading something. I don't know what it is, but it weighs 20GB, and as soon as it seems to download, it starts validating the files AGAIN and the cycle begins anew. What can I do to fix this? I'd rather not uninstall and reinstall the game because (1) that's too much of a hassle tbh and (2) I don't know if that'll stop this from happening or not, but if there's no real solution for it... guess I'll have to uninstall this.
EDIT: Steam just installed the 20GB AGAIN but I got an error message. It says that the update failed because of "damaged content files", specifically, one called "mp_av_att_vm_p19_dm_sbeta_stocktac_v0_tr.ff". I'll delete it and see if it fixes the problem.

I'm not surprised. When the game actually launched before the update, it would crash every single time I changed a weapon on the loadout screen... this sucks.

I've never seen a game struggle so much with just launching, and yet God knows how many people will just flock to defend it and claim "it's not so bad". ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, It IS that bad, I can't even get it to launch. And I don't have a weak PC, I can run DMC V at 140 FPS at the highest settings.

well it doesn't matter if your pc is weak , when they mention a minimum system required the game HAVE to run properly at least on 30-40 FPS on it, the damn game doesn't even launch though (I tested on a mid and a high end pc)

same problem here, but mine just does like short downloads after verifying the game files and then it still wont even launch the game. Works fine on my console tho, still quite annoying nonetheless.

Same here. The update download is done but it keeps verifying something over and over again, I left the PC running over night, it still keeps doing it. WTF is going on?

Hey mate, sorry you're having the same problem. I maneged to fix it by uninstalling and reinstallig the game in order for it to work, but now I've got some nasty graphical issues, so... do it at your own risk.

same here for me with me in mw3 battle royale, game crashes when changing the weapon in loadout right before spawning and game is verifying the second round of 150 GB which takes 20 minutes at least on my ard drive i did not approve the second round of file checking the game did it by itself when i tried to start it.
when the game runs it is pretty stable though.

I never did the verification because the shaders are broken. I reopened the game after the crash and redownloaded the shaders, and it still ran fine. My PC ran fine with what I tested, ultra-low setting to ultra extreme able to run cap lock of 300 fps. It still crashed randomly. The game needs to fix broken code. I changed the configuration, and the game tried to use 16 cores, including E cores (i9 CPU), so I switched to using 7 P-cores and 1 P-core for free. I have noticed that it runs better, though it still crashes randomly. The game needs to rework its bug and fix it. It seems like a rushed job.
