New to MNK
How does one "git gud" at mouse and keyboard? I've been a controller player all of my life but recently switched to pc and my aim is constantly shaky and I almost always miss my target when shooting. I keep practicing but I seem to be making no progress.

Edit: I really appreciate everyone's advice, thank you all very much! I do plan on sticking with it. It seems that I struggle the most with COD as I'm decent at R6 Siege on pc but they are very different games.

Its been my experience that folks have a certain proclivity to one or the other. This can be different for other folks though. For me, I just kept playing and began to feel more comfortable with MNK than a controller over time for FPS.

However - that can be different for others and thats understandable.
Best I can say tbh is just stick with it, find a sensitivity that feels good for your favorite gun.
I recommend the Ames or the GPR, as those are both pretty stable even without good attachments.
You'll eventually get used to different situations with it, and your brain will fill the gaps from muscle memory.
It's pretty much the same as learning controller, just without assistance.
When I was new to pvp CoD back in Bo1 I played against bots alot, and I found that slowly working the difficulty of them up helped me kinda learn recoil control and how to play against faster and faster reaction times.
The ones in Bo6 are legit aimbot and wallhacks, like the bots know and aim at you the entire time and always snap perfectly, so I find warming up against them helps me get faster and more accurate.

To get good at COD or Apex you will need a Gamepad as the games are designed to be used with a Gamepad. Sadly most Gamepad users on console cheat using a "Cronus Zen" and sadly there is no anti cheat for this. So unless you are prepared to use a Gamepad you will struggle on COD.

Stick with it. Honestly, just don't give up. The more you play, the better you will become and the easier it will be. You'll eventually reach to a turning point where it'll just make sense and you'll start hitting shots and tracking better and landing flicks etc. muscle memory will develop as you get used to your sensitivity setting.

Also don't be afraid to experiment with settings, don't listen to what others prefer. Sure most people like to use between 100-120 FOV with 800-1000 DPI. Personally I find 12 mouse speed with a 0.8 ADS adjustment perfect or there abouts. But if it doesn't feel right or if you're overshooting targets often that's a sign it's too high.

Honestly though it could take months and longer to really perfect it if you're completely new, it might come sooner, just depends. Some people like to use aim trainers but I find just grinding the game I'm currently playing works really well.

Don't stress. Make sure you're enjoying it otherwise you won't learn anything and you won't want to keep playing. If COD does your head in then I'd probably try other FPS games as well just to learn in a more enjoyable setting.

BO6 is pretty crap for KBM players. Recoil attachements help a lot I find. Hardcore mode is your friend. Jump in some private matches against bots, I do even now with good aim just to try out different guns and attachements. You don't get much time to even think whilst in game when using new weapons so it's a nice change of pace.

you're not going to beat today aim assist users. The assist is too strong and they know how to exploit it further thanks to you tubers, rotational aim assist etc. I mean even when i played on controller i was annoyed at the people that just spammed aimdownsight to get robotic precision instead of keeping ads and dragging thumbstick.

like any new physical activity you are going to have to build up your muscle and/or increase your skill using those muscles
if you have shaky aim then your wrist is unstable or you have too much tension somewhere, if you are alright with hopping in an aim trainer i would find some fun precision scenarios and play them with a higher sens then you are used
while you are at it play some reaction/target reading scenarios, i thought those were just score chasing tasks that wouldnt really help much compared to normal scenarios but i've seen an improvement in my gameplay after starting them

if you have issues stopping on targets and you are on a sens that requires you to use your arm/shoulder then simply playing a lot will help, or if you are already aim training then try static and target switching scenarios on a slower sens than you are used to

^^^^ This. Yep - especially the part about Hardcore mode. Lot easier to play well in Hardcore versus regular w/ MNK.
