[BUG] False Temporary Bans After Game Crashes – Ricochet Anti-Cheat Issue
My game crashes mid-match unexpectedly and I get a message "ERROR you've been temporarily banned".
After restarting, I sometimes get a "temporary ban" message.
Sometimes, I can restart and continue playing.
After playing one or two more matches, I receive a real 24-hour temporary ban.
This has happened multiple times in a row, even after my previous ban was lifted.
I have never used cheats, hacks, or violated any terms of service.
Steps Taken:
- Contacted Activision Support, provided DxDiag, crash logs, and reports.
- Support keeps closing my case without confirming if this was escalated to the Ricochet team.
- Checked my system for any unauthorized software—nothing suspicious.
- Reinstalled the game, verified files, and updated drivers—still happening.

Friends who got banned, are you Iranian? I feel like only Iranians are getting banned for 24 hours.

Everything you mention is happening to thousands of people around the world, the game is so poorly made that it is rotten to the core with hackers and is pure malware right now but this is Activision and they don't care, they are already focused on the next landfill in 2025 which I'm sure will be a DLC for this piece of junk.

I have some information: I looked up my control panel and uninstall a program section, and i noticed that on almost the same days (i can't remember exactly) that I installed python (coding software) I began to receive ban messages from Cod Warzone. So if you have anything like Python or visual studio code, you might consider uninstalling. In my case, it was python maybe yours is different. i have to test if that is the case or not...

Interesting, I have python and vscode long before I installed the game. Did you uninstall? If so are you able to play normally?

I haven't tested it yet. i am banned for 10 more hours. I am not optimistic about it. I feel tonight I'll get banned again... but i read somewhere that visual studio code can cause problem. i uninstalled almost every thing including vscode and python.

I really don't understand it, why do you have to remove programs that have nothing to do with the game?
You have paid a price for the game that is not cheap for what it offers and at least it should work well, you jump through the hoops like tamed lions and before having to remove anything, I uninstall the game.

It doesn't matter, they won't pay any attention to you. I tried it several times when they scammed me out of 140 euros and left me without playing for almost 3 months because of the problem they had with AMD in MW2, losing battle passes and other things that I paid for, and on top of that they released MW3 a few months later. I paid for a broken game that lasted a few months and they didn't compensate me at all, nor did they give me anything back.
Scammers.

You can contact Activision here: https://support.activision.com/

I don't have any connections to Activsion, but I would like to clear a few things up.

For any company before you hand over your money, my advice is to do due diligence.

To me, MWIII from sledgehammer is unrelated to MWII from Infinityward. Its well known that there is a new COD each year. Surely you knew this before you handed over your money.

Before buying COD each year, I would recommend people test COD works on their PC by playing one of the free modes, such as Warzone. Its simple, if it doesn't work, don't buy it.

"I paid for a broken game that lasted a few months" .
Make sure you search for reputable reviews and play test the free modes before purchasing. MWII also had the free DMZ mode.

All games on Steam have a 2-hour use refund policy. The product also has to be fit for purpose and this applies for 12 months from date of purchase. You will need to quote your local Consumer Protection act for Steam to process the refund.

On battlepass, don't buy it, but if you do, at least check you are satisfied with the game first.
Pro tip: you can get the battlepass for free buy using your existing COD points. I have only paid for it once.

But..... who do you think you're talking to? I've been playing shooters before you were born and playing CoD since 2003. When the new MW2 came out I decided to give it another chance and what happened happened, I don't need lessons but thank you, I'm sure it will serve to open the eyes of other players.
It doesn't matter that MW2 is from Infinity Ward since they are not the director nor are they the original developers of the CoD2003 game, CoD2 CoDMW4 2007 etc...
This director and these great developers have returned to E.A. and are making the new Battlefield that looks very good.
