If you're using Nvidia it may be automatically optimizing the graphic settings if that feature is enabled. I crash every time I play on the new zombies map so it's really discouraging trying to play and progress.

As soon as i downloaded windows along with the new graphics update for NVIDIA I was getting constant crashes so I looked up a video on youtube and this seemed to work for me First Revert to a previous version of windows when you do that go into your control panel and uninstall the current NVIDIA graphics driver and then reinstall that from their main website. Mine didnt crash after that hope this works.

You have to run the game anywhere between low to high.
Game has issues playing in Maxed settings and also Ultra.
Even 4090 users has the same issue.

I was getting the same thing and tried EVERYTHING for a couple weeks and then I finally fixed it and I can play 12 hours none stop without any issues now. SO, the fix, believe it or not was to enable rBar with Nvidia profile inspector. If you just enable it in bios and it even says its on afterwords in the Nvidia control panel, it is NOT on until you enable it in Nvidia Profile Inspector. Its in section 5 and the first setting (feature) needs to be "enabled". Second setting (Options) needs to be "0x00000001 (Returnal, Red Dead Redemption 2)". Third setting (Size Limit) needs to be "0x0000000040000000". I hope this helps someone. If it doesn't work out for you I'm sorry.

i play on extreme settings at 4k 240 to 260 fps zero crashes, try running DDU you will be surprised what junk lies on your pc upsetting the graphics drivers, i see it all the time,

Well talking so someone that knows about that stuff.
Even same issue with custom nvida driver I modded.
No matter what you do it will have the same result.
Might be fixed with a Update.

It's the game and not my system.
I looked into logs and it shows what it is.
It's not a hardware for software issue.
It's a game issue.
Again might be fixed later.
There are some leaks in the game.
