I have noticed it happens on deathcam screen often
even tried the game on steam and battle net platforms but it's all the same
I'd either get the Error Code message or my PC would do a hard re-boot.
Looked for ages at fixes and nothing worked.
Had a Tech Guy come in 2 days ago as my last resort, as I was majorly pissed off and wanted to find out what was causing it.
He scanned whole system, no corrupted drives, GPU running perfect, no overheating etc., so ruled out it being Hardware issue.
He updated my BIOS (outside of my skill to do myself) and re-installed Windows.
Still getting the 33 files failed to verify, but seems everyone is getting it, even when game runs fine, so just ignore that.
Today I had chance to jump online and I've actually been able to play all night without a single crash!
So here are potential fixes of all the things I've done, if anyone wants to try them:
Update BIOS
Dropped FPS to match my Monitor refresh rate in game instead of set at 250 FPS
Rolled Nvidia driver back to 522.25
Uninstalled Steam and MWII and deleted all folders from PC. Then re-installed Steam and re-installed MWII.
Disable Discord and Steam Overlays
Turn off Parallax Effects in game
Turned FOV down from 120 to 110
Reinstalled Windows
Uninstalled Bitdefender (my Anti-Virus software)
Windows Firewall is still installed and On
Hope this helps someone!
- Changed game to run un full screen instead of full screen borderless
- Set my FPS to be adaptive to monitor instead of locking it on 144 (my monitor is 240)
- Changed my operator skin
So one of these fixed the issue, or all of them combined, or maybe it was something else and all of this is just coincidence
The game crashing is one thing but now for it to mess with my pc has me nervous. and i have not heard a thing from the devs about this so this game may have become unplayable for me.
I am wondering if my gpu driver has anything to do with it. I know the 526.4 something was causing issues so i reverted back to 516 or something. But i heard the 526.61 fixed the issues and i updated. And have had extreme problems since. However i noticed when i just went to check the driver number that a new one is out. Ill try that one and hope for the best
EDIT So i noticed went i would verify my files, it would say 33 files failed to validate. Could not get those to validate. So i went to the dlc tab and unclicked everything there then re clicked only the files that had sizes next to them. The game the automatically started downloading a 30 gb file
