if you play games on pc
GET WINDOWS!!!
problem solved
simple as that
If you don't understand that linux its a choice and not a matter of money why do you even speak? simple as that.
You can try Linux, but its not officially supported.
go complain elsewhere because no one wants to support your os
No. Linux is unsupported by the game and anti-cheat.
No sane person should want Windows to have no competition, especially since they've been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed consistently since Windows 8, at least give them a reason to improve, most Windows versions involve 1 QoL/helpful feature and numerous UI update disasters, old software replaced with slower, less useful modern versions (Remember how Volume Mixer was a simple pop-up? Yeah, now it's a settings menu that chews up performance for no reason) and aggressive funneling of users to upgrade, like deprecating support for older versions very early on with their software.
Be sure that your browser log-in on Battle.net is the same as the Battle.net client user or it won't work, I don't know why. IE: the same account must be signed in on both your internet browser at teh Battle.net website, and it must match the Battle.net user on the client.
Good luck.
We don't want to have to install a lower quality OS just to play a COD game... especially when most other games work fine (or even better) on Linux with Steam Proton.
Could actually be a solution for Linux users but it will probably only work with a full disk swap because VM's only run off CPU input which renders that option useless. I think the only way to actually get it working in this case is some serious Wine configuration.
Slight necro of the thread, but the problem is that Ricochet (their anti cheat) is kernel level. It would require serious rework on Activision's part to make Ricochet function on linux. The game itself probably runs fine, but the anti cheat not running is going to be what prevents you from actually playing.
This sounds like you are fanboying over windows.
The reason why people like Linux (At least for the steam deck) is that it works the best for the portable pc that it is. Linux is also very light on it usage of system resources, not to mention the power usage when you install windows on the steam deck is much higher. I personally use Windows 10 for my desktop ever since I started playing on pc. I hope you can understand that people just simply want to play as many games on Steam OS, and to not have to install a entirely new OS just for a couple of games.
Cheers mates and have a wonderful day!
