Why does this game need a phonenumber?
Can anybody explain to me as to why this game requires a phone number? seriously it seems like every single video game company is out for your data nowadays. and dont tell me that this is gonna be used to combat cheating or any other bs like that because lets just be honest theyre gonna find a way to break the system oneway or another.

activision has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. like a phone number really!!?

P.S. I am aware that Valve gets the phone number not activision, but my hand is still being forced despite if i pay money for this game

the SINGLEPLAYER campaign still requires it.

the SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN, not just the multiplayer

its more like this is a rip off, just like the $70 price tag and demanding your information

Valve gets your phone number, Its literally being attached to your account, not your Call Of Duty account

what if i dont want valve to know my phone number? what if i dont want to use the steam app?

steam app is a security vulnerability it has an outdated browser inside the program, not to mention the security vulnerability associated with having a browser on your phone (javascript exploits)

steam on desktop has the same security vulnerability, but its only on 1 device your PC

yeah, and valve's games dont even need a phone number.. they just work dude

the only one i can think of csgo needing phone number but you can still play without...

csgo is a free game, but you can still play it without a phone number - its optional

this is LITERALLY one of the ONLY games on steam that requires a phone number to play
Nobody is forcing you to add your phone number, or buy games that have that requirement. You're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for no reason, just move on.

Requiring a phone number is a good thing in disguise because you get to avoid at least some strange people on call of duty, hehe.

people are so used to giving up their own security and privacy that those who don't are considered strange

thats how you know we're living in a world that is crumbling
Ok edgelord, you lost me when you said "herd", because you sound like the typical tinfoil hat edgelord.

Hehe, just look at the way he replies to comments. He replies to the same comment multiple times, something is off when people do that.

Dude thinks anyone cares about his personal data like he's some important figure or something, it's sad.

perfect way to invalidate someone who is talking about an issue is to just call them a tinfoiler
You're speaking and presenting your side of things like one, it's just fair to call you out for it.

Also, don't act like a victim, you're not one.

True, back in the day all your data was on the white pages/ phone book and it was delivered to your doorstep, no one cared about your information back then and no one cares about it now. As long as you are not some sort of a public figure, why would anyone care about you other than your family, hehe.

did i say that?

people exploit personal data and sell it to bad actors

that says nothing about importance

dude
Name those bad actors, you seem to act like you have concrete evidence towards that. Keep in mind that Valve is the one processing the required info, not Activision.

tinfoil didnt work so now youre accusing me of acting like a victim. you are just suffering from cognitive dissonance and are using any excuse to invalidate the argument
Ok, now you seem to have a psychology degree too, oh nvm you're just acting like one.

people who want to make money abusing your personal information care about your data
Yet you provide no evidence, opinion = invalid.

The mobile app is not required. Just your number on your Steam account.

still doesn't make it right, since 99% of games on steam work without a phone number

what makes this game so special?

Dota 2 requires it for ranked play too.
