Can you refund the game if you play the beta for over 2 hours?
Looking to pre order for the beta this weekend but worried I will not be able to refund if you play the beta and I don't like it. Is the beta is own download?

yes, you can refund it as long as it's not over 2 hrs. Lets say hypothetically you got a bit more than 2hrs (2.2hrs) steam might understand your situation and refunds it.:The_Slayer:

Steam support says "When you pre-purchase an Advanced Access version on Steam, you can request a refund at any time prior to the start of Advanced Access. The standard 14-day refund period also applies and will not start until the release date." Play as much as you want boss man, dont forget to refund when the time comes though

no, you cannot.

They recently changed their terms, so playing a game early access before the release counts towards the 2 hours refund window...

Then you got lucky, because they literally made a steam article about the change of the refund system for games that offered advanced access. Though I'm not sure if that also applies to stuff like this beta, as it isn't exactly advanced access and more of a bplaytest.

Beta isn't early access. Early access is only when you pay extra to play "earlier" (AKA pay more to play on the real release date)

you can cancel any pre order even with beta game play as the game hasn't released yet

BETA and EA are very different things all together, EA means you play while the game is developed and BETA is you get a chance to play a demo of the game early.

Coming right from Steam policy page:

Can I refund my pre-order?
Per Steam’s standard refund policy, you may refund your pre-order any time prior to the release of the game.

If the pre-order was purchased more than 6 months ago, you may not be able to refund back to your original payment method. However, you may still request a credit to your Steam Wallet.

On BO6 page:

Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6
Developer: Treyarch, blablaa
Publisher: Activision
Release: 25 Oct, 2024

Steam won't deny the refund.

Betas do not count towards the refund.

This is not Advanced Access. This is just a plain old beta. Advanced Access is playing the release version of the game up to 1 week before officially being released.

REFUNDS ON TITLES PURCHASED PRIOR TO RELEASE DATE

When you purchase a title on Steam prior to the release date, the two-hour playtime limit for refunds will apply (except for beta testing), but the 14-day period for refunds will not start until the release date. For example, if you purchase a game that is in Early Access or Advanced Access, any playtime will count against the two-hour refund limit.

BO6 does not have Advanced Access like MWII and MWIII did.
