Worst CoD to date?
Just curious but as someone who has been a CoD gamer since the very first 2003 Call of Duty game and as someone who while I have not bought every CoD game I have tried every CoD game (free weekends, open betas etc)

And previously I thought Black Ops 4 was the worst CoD. I got the full game for free with my new CPU and even free I did not think it was worth it. But Black Ops 6 honestly may be even worse

Obviously all of this based on my impressions of the beta but a lot of my issues with the game are really with some really horrible core design choices that cannot simply be patched out or fixed post release....

First off, the positives.... I actually like the new movement system and I generally like it when CoD does try to innovate within the franchise and seeing CoD implement an inertia based movement system is a big change and definitely took a lot of development effort as well and I actually find that the movement does feel good. Visually the game looks stunning the gun models look sleek and everything just has a very nice sleek and sharp look to it. One of the issues with MW2 (2022) was the visual downgrade from MW 2019 to MW2 everything looked very fuzzy and low res even if you set everything to max settings and turned off the upscaling tech. MW3 did bring some visual improvements but in general just did not feel as good visually as MW 2019 and even going back to the 2019 game today you really just see the sharp visual contrast between MW3 and MW2019

With Black Ops 6 we finally get a good visual upgrade again and I personally think it is the first CoD since MW2019 to finally improve on the graphics rather than downgrade the visuals

The gunplay feels good but a lot of the guns do need tweaking in terms of recoil and performance there is a vast difference in time to kill between different weapons

Now as for the bad and why in my opinion from a multiplayer perspective Black Ops 6 may be the worst CoD to date.....

The map design is absolutely horrific. I really don't know what they were thinking with these maps even if you do the queue with the larger maps the maps are just all way too small, way too open and just very poorly designed. They don't look nice, they don't feel nice to play and they have a very bad flow to them. The spawns are an absolute disaster and while spawns can be fixed they will still be limited within the scope of the horrific map designs

Babylon on domination you literally spawn right next to the domination capture points and fine we can have one very tiny map like Shipment but the issue is so far all the maps I've played in the beta feel like Shipment. It is fun to play one map on rotation like Shipment but every single map?! That is not a fun experience

I went from Babylon to Skyline to Derelict to Lowtown and it just constantly felt like I was playing Shipment over and over again

Babylon is tiny and you spawn right in front of the enemies and it is just entirely open, no matter where you are on Babylon enemies can shoot you from every angle. At least with Shipment your angles are limited so you at least know where to expect enemies, but Babylon it is 360 degree angles you can be shot from

And this issue is the same on all maps, same issue on Skyline and shockingly the same issue on Derelict as well despite being a Highway (Santa Seña/Border Crossing) styled map and I was actually one of the few people that enjoyed that map. In general I am a CoD gamer who doesn't hate on maps I like new experiences and thus enjoy discovering the different angles, routes, secret routes, etc... But in all the maps I played in the Black Ops 6 beta the experience was just the same over and over again. Derelict is again just too open you can get too much crossfire from any angle and it is again way too small it should have been much longer and possibly even wider to allow more distance between alternative routes and restrict some of the angles you can get shot from

I'll be absolutely shocked if Black Ops 6 sells well as while it has a few positives I think the horrible map design just kills it

The one thing that any fun CoD game needs is good maps. This was one of the key complaints about MW2 (2022) that the new maps were not very good and while they brought back a lot of the old classics, most people had played them to death already and thus were craving new experiences not a reuse of a map they've played so much already. But when a game brings back old maps and also has good new maps then it is always a beloved CoD title as you get the best of both worlds. Or in the case of Black Ops 6 you get the worst of all worlds......

Treyarch tends to have the worst ones.

and so it begins...

BO6 is garbage.

4 years to develop this? I'd be ashamed to release it.

So many stupid decisions made. The game feels like ♥♥♥♥ to play.

Im not a fan of the movement. Then again, i refused to play the wall running/jetpack CODs. Everyone is sliding/bunny hopping/diving every .2 seconds. Maps, i agree with you on. Spawns are ass, way too small. Graphics were fine, gunplay was fine too.

It's actually the worst FPS ever. Not just the worst COD.

I do like the movement, dont like the maps

Not reading all that from the first post! I think this one lacks immersion and visually it could do with a massive upgrade.

I think this CoD is incredibly fun

yea agreed, movement feels much more fluid than any previous COD game that I can remember. I don't like how the maps play at all though.

I enjoy this COD much more than the last two, more than quite a few games in the series in general although its still some of Treyarch's worst. BO1 best.

COD is usually the best selling game every year, most of those buyers don't play the beta or watch reviews before making the purchase they just buy it no matter what because it's COD.

It'll never NOT make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of money and that's a major reason it hasn't improved in any meaningful way in a long time, BO6 is the closest we've gotten since advanced movement.

I don't think the visuals are improved at all. It definitely looks better than MWIII, but MWIII was a horrible looking game. Movement feels good. Not weighty like MW19, but more in line with Black Ops Cold War. I might still buy it, but I'm not seeing this graphical improvement.

It still inherited way too much from the modern mw games. Still a lot better than the camping simulators from the last years though. But not as good as bo4 or bo3.
