Safe Mode error when trying to start the game. Any way to fix this yet?
So when trying to launch the game I keep getting that it crashed and i have the option to run it either in safe mode or not. Regardless the option I choose it will load the launcher for a brief moment and then it crashes.

1. Right click on Call of Duty in Library, Property's then DLC. Un check the box for COD MWIII. Your going to uninstall it.
2. Open the Game file in Steam:
C:Program files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Call of Duty HQ
Scroll down look for 'codinstallcleaner.exe' click on it. A CMD will open, then will close in a bit, wont take long.
3. Start the game, Click no to Safe mode. Click on the far right arrow to get to MWIII. Click on it. It's going to tell you it's not installed, click install. You will download and install it from in the game from Activision. Not from Steam. I never knew you could do this and seems faster. When it done play.

Unfortunately that did not help. Still giving me the same issue anything else you have in mind?

Try clearing the Steam cache Steam/settings/downloads. Have your password handy.
then repeat the steps above. When you un check the box for MWIII watch the 'Manage Downloads' to see if it's uninstalling it. From there use the 'codinstallcleaner.exe' in the COD HQ folder. Be sure to start the game from the task bar I had issues getting it to work from the play icon in the library.

it might be the issue a good number of us experienced last weekend.

to fix: on the library page on steam, right side go to "manage my dlc" and check any boxes for warzone. once steam does its thing getting those files, you should be able to boot into mw3 again and will no longer get the safe mode error screen.

Tried this and it still doesn't want to launch. Like, when the splash screen pops up, it immediately disappears and game doesn't launch. I would have to spam it till it finally lets me in.

if it closes at the first splash screen, then you might have ReWASD or something similar installed. a while back cod anti cheat started blocking these programs
