Black Ops 6 - Campaign Review & Info (No Spoilers!)

Just wanted to give my personal review for the Black Ops 6 campaign. I’ll score it at the end but just for comparisons sake I did the same thing for MW2 and MW3. I scored those titles as follows:

MW2 - 7.3/10

MW3 - 4/10

I’m approaching this with no bias and immediate feeling after completing it in order to convey to some people what the campaign will entail and how good it actually is.

Level Design & Gameplay - I think Black Ops 6 has the best level design of any Call of Duty campaign in history. In fact I don’t even think this is a controversial opinion. Each level has something unique about it that diverts it from being just mind numbing shooting. They even made a pretty decent open world mission dare I say it. If you enjoyed the level design in Black Ops: Cold War then you’ll love this.

I loved some of the gameplay additions made for Black Ops 6. The homing knife in particular is one of the most best new pieces of equipment Call of Duty has ever made. Fun and chaotic.

The safehouse returns in Black Ops 6 and is even better as you can now buy things to upgrade yourself in different ways. You can also unlock weapon skins through in-game currency which I didn’t expect from Activison lmao.

There is also puzzles you can solve to give you different rewards. They are pretty fun. I also appreciated the smaller details like the fact the safehouse changed in lots of aesthetic ways as time went on.

Characters - All of the new characters are memorable for different reasons. I really liked Sev, Felix, Marshall and Harrow and the dynamics between them. The dialogue in this game is good and you can see their relationships strengthen/worsen over time.

The returning characters Adler and Woods are also great and the voice actors do a very good job with them.

Narrative - The narrative of the game overall is pretty good. I will say for me personally it did not hit the heights of BO1 or BO2 (pretty difficult to do so) but it does act as a very good continuation piece from Cold War.

I will also say that the final mission (more like set of missions) did seem to drag on a little too long but from a gameplay perspective yet again they were absolutely immense.

I also think the narrative does a good job of setting up a future Black Ops title as there are some very interesting threads left clearly open. I hope there’s a post-launch storyline.

Length - This was a component that surprised me. It actually took me almost 9 hours to finish the Black Ops 6 campaign. Admittedly I did engage with every POI on the open world mission, all the discussion in the safe house as well as doing all the upgrades and safehouse puzzles. Considering I completed BO: Cold War in almost 5 hours I did not expect the campaign to be anywhere near as long as it is. It does a lot of good in that time too.

Conclusion + Score: As an overall package, I believe that Black Ops 6 is the best modern era Call of Duty campaign created thus far. With some of the best level design and gameplay Call of Duty has ever produced, along with some great new characters added to the mix it’s hard not to like. The narrative although not as strong as these other 2 components does a good job of showcasing the potential horrors of biological warfare.

My score: 8.7/10

I hope this informed/helped the many people who were interested in this game purely from a single-player basis!

Feel free to ask me any questions!
