DirectX Error for AMD users
Game plays perfectly for an hour and then the PC poops itself, flagged with a DirectX error after freezing for 30 seconds and the screen becomes black and comes back with AMD experiencing an unexpected problem and has reverted the drivers back to it's default settings.

Everything's running on lowest settings, VRAM all the way down to 50, tried running with -D3D11 in Steam, closed every single background non-essential operation and it still crashes. AMD RX 580 8GB card, 16GB RAM and core i5 9600k, nothing's being ran overclocked, nothing has been altered or tweaked, temperatures are running cool, deleted the game and redownloaded it as well as verified the installation, allowed it to do it's shader cache nonsense, tried it on borderless and exclusive fullscreen, limited the FPS to 60 and the resolution to 1080p, redownloaded AMD Software Edition, rolled back to previous driver versions, redownloaded and did a repair on Windows and guess what.

It crashes. Again. And again. And again.

I have tried everything possible to find a fix for this and nothing works.

Conclusion; the game is unoptimised garbage on PC and if it's not fixed soon, people are just gonna stop playing it all together, ESPECIALLY those who like to play the zombies game mode such as myself.

If you have any lovely, delightful, insightful comments to share, please do so, because I'm at a f*****g loss as to what to do to try and get this triple A annual game to work.

I've been thinking of upgrading to a RX 7800 XT so this is making me take a pause about that. I'm currently running a GTX 1070 and was having worse issues with DirectX than you are reporting. The ONLY thing that worked for me was rolling back my Windows to 23H2. I have no idea if that is your issue but if you haven't tried it you might want to look into it.

im have an all amd build and i get 250fps @4k extreme settings.
Reducing the vram is the last thing you want to do, more v ram better performance but you have to leave enough for background.
the resetting of drivers is some thing ive not seen, if it an over clock fail it will sy more like restting back to standard settings but never mentions drivers, i suggest you download ddu and un install everything and start again.

I even rolled back drivers to nvidia 560.70 but no luck and the reducing vram thing doesn't do anything lol

I put a 7600 XT 16GB ($306) into a pc with 5800X3D and it runs this game great, 75 fps @1440p in the benchmark

the old 580 is one of the best 1080p cards ever made but these days you need more vram

It can't be the GPU because I'm running a 570 8gb and it worked perfectly fine on the previous WZ prior to the bo6 update. This has happened to me in the past and is usually worked out through an update. IIRC the game updates every thursday so hopefully by thanksgiving they fix it. I agree, it's extremely unoptimized but what can you do.

I was going to say cold war has been my least favorite of the recent COD releases, but then I recalled vanguard lol. I was able to perfectly play MW2 and MW3 WZ (even multiplayer on the free weekends) but honestly I have gone through this same problem with these releases. sometimes there'd be new updates and this would happen to me. Usually by thursday it'd be fixed.

I dont have any amd parts, as well as many others and we have been crashing for weeks now

It has to be Call of Duty. I'm running a full AMD build and it constanly crashes with DirectX error, or just freezes my entire PC.
But seeing all the posts from other players, it's crashing equal on AMD or NVIDIA hardware.
