BLACK OPS 6 CRASH ON STARTUP
STORY (If you don't care about it just look at the fixes bellow.)
I bought bo6 a few days ago on Battle.net. I tried to play it but it would crash on startup. I was confused and tried a few more times. Didn't work. I tried everything like disabling my fire wall, anticheat, running the game as admin, running it on directX11, updating and reverting all drivers, moving disks etc. Nothing online helped either So i refunded it and bought it on Steam. Same issue. After 3 days of hard work I am shocked at what the problem with me was. I was cleaning my pc of apps I don't need. Then I found reWASD which I haven't used IN YEARS. I remembered cod anticheat hates all remapping software and as soon as I uninstalled it my game worked perfect. I CAN'T express how angry I am with activison for wasting so many hours of my life for a stupid fix like this

BIG FIXES ( 2 big issues if you don't get any pop up errors when your game doesn't start )
- go to your game folder doesn't matter which launcher you use and find bootstrapper
its a text file. Open it and see what it says. If you see a message saying something like : Failed to open \??\E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty HQ\randgrid.sys. This means that the randgrid.sys isn't in the folder that's specified. So go to your game folder and copy that file and paste it in the path that the error says it's missing from ( if you need help feel free to ask for details )
- if you have any and I mean ANY remapping software like snapkey, reWASD, uninstall everything including its logs and maps.

MINOR FIXES ( can be the problem in some cases )
- try running the game as admin
- try updating all drivers and windows
- disable your antiviruses and put call of duty in firewall exceptions
- try putting the code -dx11 or -d3d11 as a launch option in battle.net, steam or game pass
- run the game in safe mode

ERROR FIX ( if you get an error message popup )
If you get a pop up when your game crashes you can comment it here and I'll help you try and fix it or maybe another kind person in the comments. I can't list a fix for every error here since there are far too many.

I HOPE I HELPED SOMEONE AND REMEMBER IT'S THE DEVELOPERS FAULT FOR MAKING SUCKS A STUPID SYSTEM

A friend of mine is having a similar problem. However, his pc is brand new (no remappers or anything like that installed). Fresh Nvidia drivers, fresh mb drivers, everything is newly installed. The game just won't launch at all for him. He tried GamePass and nothing, now Steam and nothing either. Doesn't even give him an error message, just doesn't launch.

so what do i copy n paste in the folder, lmk pls !

First go into your game folder and find a file named randgrid.sys. Copy it and put it in the folder that the bootstrapper is telling you it's missing from. If you don't have the file where your game is then it went somewhere else on your pc. In that case you have to search for it in file explorer.

>> - disable your antiviruses and put call of duty in firewall exceptions

The part about antivirus software should only be done in testing to find if that is the cause of your issues. Easy fixes if it is. Always put your AV back on afterwards and always re-enable your firewall if you disabled it to test ports.

On my rig it's in
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Call of Duty HQ\

Maybe a "verify game files" will put the file back?

Here is the fix.
Windows Audio stack strikes back. WOW. Windows has had a weak audio stack for some time now. I am running a Asus mother board that uses the Realtek driver the Sonic Studio is in the driver. I like it, although it has some faults. I was having hard PC crashes in games from AUDIODG.EXE via the ntdll.dll, the door keeper in a way. I fixed the crashes by removing the Nvidia HD Audio that comes with the Nvidia driver. Fixed no more crashes.
There is nothing wrong with the Nvidia HD Audio. Windows just can't run Icue for the headst, Sonic Studio and Nvidia HD Audio at the same time. The door keeper 'ntdll.dll' flops on the floor and cries, PC locks up crashes. I still get the Audiodg.exe error in Event viewer, if I alt+tab out of the game. This is from what I can tell, it's looking for audio in the MDT or HDMI input.

I found that if I started Steam and just let the PC sit the game would start. This led me to think windows was turning off a service when it was not needed or task manager stop a service.
I was able to confirm that the Nahimic Service is what is keeping the game from starting or a sub component of it. Going to services and just stopping it will let the game start. I was able to repeat this.
Stopping the service kills Sonic Studio, as this service has the 3D or Upmix/Surround components. There is no need to uninstall Sonic Studio, and in my case it's part of the audio driver signed by Microsoft.
I don't think Activision blocked this, as their is no cheat advantage at all. So it needs to be fixed. I want that great COD sound. I was able to alt+tab out of the game and restart the service and Sonic Studio to get the sound back and had no issues playing the game.
The Nahimic Service is used in ASRock, MSI boards as well as Steel series headsets.
THIS IS IT!!!

Yea I had the same thing. As I said i had an old program on my pc which the game thought was a cheat. If you don't have any other errors and you tried all of the other fixes I listed it's 99% that you have a program that black ops doesn't allow. Any overlay apps, mod apps like wemod, remapping apps like reWASD or even Feceit for cs can be preventing you from playing black ops 6. Go to control panel and find programs and apps If you have anything like that uninstall it.

Yes, this is I believe the right thing to do. Need to close any app like wemod. I closed my wemod (total close not just running in background), and I can start the game..

for me removing KMSpico (a software that cracks windows) did the trick
Playboyer670 Nov 12, 2024 @ 8:27am
Uninstall Sonic Studio if you have the app. That's what was preventing it from launching for me.

I'm getting this error code when I try to play:

0x00001338 (11960) N
Error: executable steam ship
