RYZEN 7 3700X CPU STUTTER FIX (Probably)
I used to run cpuid stress load to make the game playable and not suffer from any sort of crazy slideshow and ridiculous triple digit cpu times, packet bursts, latency variations and extrapolations.

HERE'S THE FIX:

- Launch cod
- In task manager find all the cod executables the game launched
- REDUCE the core usage down to only 4 cores that are physical (0, 1, 2, 3) in all those executables
- Launch into a private game for testing purposes
- If it's all smooth, you can now enable all the other cores/threads back
- The way to do that is through the task manager's "set affinity" function

Let me know if it works if nothing else did.

I tried everything from using OC profiles, undervolting, using pbo, upscaling, lsfg, editing the registry to set priority to high, using different chipset drivers, reinstalling windows, resetting cache, changing workrender count in the .cst to no avail. But as a last ditch effort I tried this and to my amazement it worked!

EDIT:
Another potential fix that worked for me:
- Download "AMD RYZEN MASTER" from the Official AMD site
- Apply the "Game Profile" and restart your computer
- The game should now run perfectly with all cores enabled and no further input required from you

BUMP for anyone who doesn't know how to use the search function

You know all that is not needed because the game already has a way to manage cores used, right?

Unfortunately, this is a widely-known highly specific issue for certain amd cpu models, the R7 3700X being one of them.

Without said adjustments the game doesn't utilize the cpu at all and suffers from intense thrashing and runs like a slideshow with cpu time spikes upwards of 150ms. The expected cpu time is less than 10ms. With such high cpu times the frames are 1-15fps.

In an ideal world, yes, the game should manage the cores properly. But as per usual, Activision blames AMD, and they blame the manufacturers and none provide any viable fixes.

There are dozen of dead threads on reddit, steam discussions, amd forums and other websites with the exact issue and most people just run a fictitious cpu load for the game to run properly which isn't healthy for the chip long-term.

Weird that they've kept a problem like this for so long, but it's good to know another model that has these problems, this seems extremely specific.

I run this cpu with a 2070 super, i have 0 issues and still get 60fps.

Mhm, question, anyone with a similar setup and problem could veto this?
Nekochan Jul 22, 2024 @ 4:48pm
Well, they still have nvidia shader bug (pixelated shadows) going all the way back to MW19 to be exact so it's not really a surprise this game has certain bugs here and there.

Had this specific issue for a very long time with the same CPU. I've changed to a Ryzen 7 5700x a couple months ago and all the problems were gone. Sadly, Activision will probably never fix this issue.

best way to keep ahead is check AMD site for current drivers and arcware for your chipset & cpu for your motherboard site for firmware
Note: windows users if using Bitlocker need to get your bitlocker key before install motherboard firmware.

overclockers, set your ram speed and the rest to auto (AMD) and intel use XMP and check ram site for current timings.

after years of attempts to make this gen cod work this is the only thing that worked at all

but gotta say it only worked when i did the affinity change, next day i tried again with the amd ryzen master and it did not work, and now when i do the affinity change preformance is better but not good

you could try using software called Process Lasso to set affinity to 'always' in CoD because i think Task Manager resets every time right ? Process Lasso also has an awesome Power Plan, and you can make it automatically run that (or any power plan) when in-game and the Power Saver plan when not

BTW if you experiment with Process Lasso don't use 'real-time' priority for games, it's for system professionals

meanwhile i turned off SMT in BIOS - 5800X3D

once again I say it not a PC problem it. is a activision problem. the reason they don't fix them is simple for years they say it us the PC that the problem not them if they fix the problem then they cant say that any more and have to admit blame. which they never do. it like when we were and still are bombard with cheaters and half the cod people left to play other game, who got the blame the gamer and not them for doing nothing about it or the scummier cheater.
