* SOLVED * Got banned for no reason? (PS5)

UPDATE 8/16/2024:

Somehow, I managed to reach Activision about my banned account. For those who assumed I hacked and didn’t believe me, telling me, “You know what you did, stay banned,” I just got my account back after 3 hours of waiting!

It was confirmed that my account was hacked by an unauthorized service. They removed the unwanted link, and I’m now in the clear. For anyone in the same situation, if you’re truly innocent, I was able to regain access to my Activision account and discovered that an unauthorized STEAM account was linked to it (I only have my PSN linked to Activision). I explained the whole situation, and 3 hours later, I got my account back.

I just wanted to share my experience of surviving this false ban. Good luck to everyone else who got their console account banned, and to those who didn’t believe me—peace out.

I had to log into my Steam account to write this because I’m currently unable to play MW3 on PS5. The last time I played MW3 on my PS5 was around December 2023. I hadn’t logged in since, but today I decided to get back on and play with my friends.

When I tried to log in, it took at least 5 minutes, and then I noticed a pop-up saying I’ve been permanently banned. I have no idea why this happened or what the reason could be. I tried to appeal the ban, but I can’t even log into my Activision account through my PSN account. I can't even appeal and I don't even know where to send an email.

I’m completely lost about what’s going on and how to get back in the game. It’s really frustrating that I paid full price for the game, hardly played it, and now when I finally decide to play again, I find out I’ve been banned. Could this really be because I was inactive? What can I do to resolve this?

I've been reading up on this issue, and it seems like I'm not the only one affected. I only play on my PS5 when my friends are online, so I hardly have any hours logged in the game. It’s really frustrating to be banned for no reason, plus, being on console...

same, 2000 hours and no warning or bans previously, so unfair but i guess its a ♥♥♥♥ company after for a reason

ive heard that activision doesnt like very much the unnoficial periferals (for example a controller with a Turbo button).

Do you use any of those??

Dont use cronus simple as that. And also dont complain here if you are just a console peasant

And unlike everybody claiming no reason sure there is a reason why you got banned and yes that no reason thing is an excuse for over 20 years that is not valid at all

Many Cronus/Xim users have been banned recently.
Another reason may be certain words in voice chat or text chat, which also lead to permabans "thanks" to AI monitoring.
The last possibility would be that someone has hacked your account. But 99.9999% of the time this only happens to PC users.

The bad news is that bans are not reversible. There is nothing you can do.

Man, it really sucks, i mean I didn't lose much since I never paid any skin as a casual gamer. It's just the fact that I lost access to the game and that there's no way to appeal that frustrate me. I just wanted to run a few games with my bros.

I don't know what are those. I don't even think it's possible to mod a PS5. I'm just a regular gamer who works a 9-5 and get on when my friends gets on.

That's an undeserved response... anyways, as I said, I'm a console player using PSN to log in. I recently read that Activision got hacked and I might be one of the victims. My PSN has 2FA, so I assumed my Activision had 2FA too. Most of us casuals are just here to play.

I don't understand the assumption and the hate in this response... I don't know what's a Cronus. I'm just here to ask for help or if there's anything I can do... I didn't pay anything in this account so I didn't lose a lot but the access to play online. I tried to link my existing PSN account to a new Activision but it doesn't let me for link it for some reason...

then I would like to know those reasons, because the only thing I did was stop playing since December 2023. I'm on console. I don't even know what was a Cronus or Turbo or anything like that until someone mentioned it. The only thing I know is that Activision got hacked a few months ago and that I could be a victim and there's no way for me to retrieve my access to the game. I came here in hope to get help but, I'm slowly accepting that the community and the company are both "un-caring" after seeing the response I am getting.

I don't know what is Cronus or Xim. I did some research and I saw Activision got hacked a few months ago so I thought I could be a victim. To be frank I don't really care that my account got hacked since I never paid anything in it. What I care is that I can't access to the online server within a new Activision account linked to my PSN.

It's just a bummer that I threw my money out the window for a company that, from this experience, don't care about us. I wish I could link my PSN to a new Activision account but I guess it's not possible then.

no, even if your PS5 account was hacked they need your passwords to connect on...
you know what you do, face yourself and start to understand that actions brings consequences !

As I said, I don't know what is going on, I am TRYING to understand what is going on by doing research on my side. The thing is that I agree with your " face yourself and start to understand that actions brings consequences" since in my case, the only action I did was not play for 8 months and I only play on console casually after works. Being inactive = banned? ... Think of me as a guy who has a family, who works 9-5 and that gaming is not his priority and one day I decided to play the game with my bros after being away for 8 months just to see a " you got banned" on a game I spent $$$?

And yes, I got the message that there's really no point trying to explain myself on the internet since everybody is keen to say " Yea you hacked on console, you deserve it, don't play dumb". I guess this pretty much sums up this community and company.

Cheating, mouthing off in chat, exploiting spawns, exploiting anything, unlock everything hacks, boosting your account with multiple low level accounts as partners(if it keeps happening over and over your will be banned) and many more if you read the "fine print".
They have stated that the info for this ban wave was collected over a long period of time, Your account got caught doing something that violated the TOS, your account got banned. Whether this was you or someone stealing your password doesn't matter, there is no way of knowing on the forums so you just look like another cheater banned here, every last one says "i never cheated". If you are innocent, Activision may be able to see if your IP was suddenly in another country and may take pity on you if you write a ticket.

Thank you for being constructive! I kind of got the message that I pretty much lost access to COD. English is my 3rd language, I never hopped on a lobby chat. I'm always in my private party chat on PSN. All I did on COD was play team deathmatch 99.99% of the time then get off after a few matches with my friends. The only thing I can see myself getting banned for is maybe being bad at the game because my K/D is around 0.8 to 1.10. Like I said I am super casual who just play for a good laugh and to relax. Last time I was on was during December 2023. All I did was Team deathmatch and played for an hour.

I tried writing a ticket by following their procedure, but they are not letting me link my PSN account so I can't even explain the situation sadly. Thanks for being nice.

I had the exact same problem but activision was useless and I can’t get my account back because every time I try to contact them I get replies from bots
