Why wont it launch??

I validated files, restarted, updated graphics driver, restarted, it wont launch. please help, activision support.

whenever trying to launch the game i always got the Diver error. And now its not launching anymore it just crash. Anyone knows what to do ?

when i verify integrity, steam tells me "81 file failed to verify and will be acquired" and then never gets the files. been running this back to back with the same results every time.

For those that have not attempted this, I suggest you do this before anything else otherwise you will spend hours trying to boot this game up. When you initially download COD HQ. Windows forces you to boot the game in Windows 8 compatibility mode even though it does not state that. In properties, you can even see that the box is unchecked for it upon downloading. You might not even get the error message to begin with.

Check and save the property. Uncheck and save the property again. Start the game up (it should crash once more) then Steam should recognize it is missing specific files for the game because it tried to run in the correct version of windows. I do not know those specific files it was missing but this worked for me and could explain why almost every single person goes through the same issue after completing the hotfix steps.

turned out the problem for me was having Rewasd installed, not even on, just installed. its possible any 3rd party controller program like DS4windows will cause this as well, or Activision just needs to fix their game.

Yeah, I try to get as many people with these problems to see my guide--but I see it largely ignored, even though it's bound to fix their problem, like the rewasd thing.

"It was the same issue: when launching 'play', a few seconds would pass and nothing would happen, no errors. The only thing that helped to launch the game was simply moving it to another drive (this can be done through Steam's own storage management). After that, everything worked. I hope this helps you."

what are you even talking about man, if you download it to another drive it works without a problem. nothing to do with being banned or not

If you have "GoodByeDPI" it is also causing this problem.

I forgot to update the thread with my solution... It took me forever to figure this out, but I uninstalled all vpn programs and it launched fine after that. weird.
