Shaders pre-loading is the most stupid thing ever created
A gamer, a client, shouldn't ever have to wait, if he already have downloaded a game, this is the most absurd and dumb idea ever put to release, thanks to this era of stupidity.

And even if it's for a better quality or whatever the F, that doesn't weigth enough.

The entire concept of shaders having to be generated or something having to be done before entering a product is the exact opposite of a good thinking for any process, this should have been thrown into the garbage instantly, it's the most absurd tech ever created with the Apple VR BS.

You clearly lack actual technical knowledge. It only takes a few minutes and in turn actually boosts fps as your system can outright load certain things rather then rendering them over and over again when that is not needed, your GPU performs better for your game if it only has to focus on a few things rather then a lot of things, in turn increasing your FPS. This works the same on any system, even the most high end ones, although you would barely notice it, where on a mid level system you would notice it more.

I would gladly grab a drink and do the shaders in the background for a few minutes, in turn increasing my fps till the next update.

Agree about shades. SO anoying, and it only do its thing when playing. When its on menu its almost do nothing. SO anoying

This person is correct. Preloading shaders is a good thing.

I don't need deep technical knowledge to know that, if you put the burden on every computers at start to deal with a technical task, this is an EXTREMELY BAD design.

There is no way to defend that, the conception of making better wiser graphic by asking user to wait, is purely dumb and shouldn't have been the way to go.

That's a braindead way of dealing with a problem.

they should have worked with GPU maker to find a better way.

It is literally a vow of incompetence

so how else would it precache the shaders as they're unique to every hardware+software configuration?

it just sounds like you're playing on a potato pc and complaining, it takes less than two minutes to compile shaders for me

That's not my problem, I don't want something between my game and me before I play, it is that simple.

Shaders shenanigans sound like a command line script from Linux, it is so not professional to me.

then you should get a console

consoles use unified hardware so they don't have to compile shaders as they come preloaded with the game

And also you all forgot something, everytime a driver is updated BOOM again shaders, and also whenever the F an update of the game decide to reload them again, not that quick and painless in the end.

I really think even on a very recent heavy GPU it's still stupid, constantly being asked to wait fo this stupid thing

You all can see that at his core, this shaders bs is utterly broken, and should be replaced by something better and clever

i didn't forget anything, i addressed it when i said shaders are unique to your hardware+software configuration, every time a driver is updated or game is updated then the software changes and the shaders have to be recompiled

shaders are compiled entirely by the cpu, if they're taking too long then that means your cpu is old and slow

it won't be, go upgrade your potato

See you for the next shaders pre-loading-blocking-experience next month ;)

Did you count how many pre-loading you're at by now? :steamhappy:
Buy PS5 console if you don't want to constantly preload shaders.

like i said, takes like a minute for me, i barely notice it
ollyfox80 Jun 26, 2024 @ 12:39pm
mine started on "96%" which makes it worse as I know its lying and really starting at 0
ollyfox80 Jun 26, 2024 @ 12:41pm
mine takes like 10mins tbh and makes me wonder why longer then others (we likely got similar speed hardrives)
