Perm banned. Fraudulent Battle.NET account. Help!
If have not logged in into COD / Warzone since March 18th. Yesterday I got a steam notification of permanent ban.

There is a Battle.net account connected to my Activision account which is not me. So I assume my account was compromised (password seems to be on a data leak list).

Not only did I loose access to the games, I cannot remove this fraudulent Battle.NET account. This is insane. For some important account changes they do send an email with a confirmation not. Apparently not if you connect a Battle.net account.

Appeal was rejected within an hour. They do have the name of the Battle.net account in question, but no effort was made to clear up the situation.

What else can I do? My XBOX, PS5 and steam account all are linked to my Activision account. Looks like I can never play another Activision game?! Worst of all I can not remove this fraudulent Battle.net account. This is extremely frustrating.

(p.s. yes I should have used 2FA)

I can't offer much help other than file a technical support ticket. https://support.activision.com/modern-warfare-iii

Activision need to ensure email 2FA is on for everything like Steam does. Security should not be optional and community moderators should be nominated to be able to log support issues. Many older Call of Duty games have serious security flaws and bugs that go unfixed.

I also previously called on Activision to stop banning linked accounts. The linked account ‘feature’ does not allow cross-play without repurchasing the game and therefore is largely for marketing. Heaps of people are alleging false bans over a feature few asked for.

Unfortunately, most in these forums, declare everyone a cheater, instead of holding Activision accountable for their terrible support.

Thanks mate. This whole system is completely against all EU consumer regulations. The most baffling thing is why they do not send an email with confirmation code when you ad an account. They do this with other important account changes.

Hi Tom. I've just been banned (1 week ago) and just found out it was same: my account was hacked and someone added a battle.net account. I can't remove the account, but have asked for battle.net and activision to restore my account, which I hope will allow me to remove the hacker from my account. Long and short of it, I've lost access to MW2 and now have a perm ban flag on my profile (that's the most upsetting thing....never cheated...been playing CoD since the first storming of the beaches back in the day). But, I accept, it's my fault - I should have had 2 factor id on. Nothing I can do about it now.

I agree with the need for notification when someone links an account though. I'm not sure why anyone would need to link two accounts?
The other thing I wondered is, are activision able to see the ip addy of the player. This should be able to show that the battle.net account is accessing from another ip, very probably even a different continent, to the steam account access. This would prove a hack i guess, or at least indicate it.

Activision has every type of log required to investigate this.

No one here can help you besides telling you to talk to Activision support.
