Shadowban system sucks
I've had my first shadowban since i started playing back when mw2019 came out. Never cheated once, but couple days ago had some solid games on rebirth, broke 20 kills for the 1st time, feeling good like i've come a long way as a player, jump on again today now just to get a suspiciously long queue time and enter a rebirth game with the most blatant hackers i've ever seen in one game, not even trying to hide it just talking openly about it in the chat and everything. Checked online and sure enough my account has "limited matchmaking", So great i guess because of those good games friday i got enough salty people to report me and now i basically can't play for like 7 days ?? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

yeah i dropped 3 20+ bombs in 2 days and now Im shadowbanned. but, if I had a controller plugged in, it wouldnt happen to me. the game only thinks you can be hacking if you play kbm

This is the third time I've been shadow banned, the first time it took multiple months to get unbanned... I started playing again recently and I'm shadow banned again.
I honestly can't with this game.

If you play legit you won’t get shadowbanned. It’s as simple as that.

I have 1900 hours in, never been shadowbanned and neither has anyone I play with.

You know why? Because I play legit.

I don’t use VPN, or macros / scripts.

I don’t use a controller or 3rd party software.

I am not toxic in chat.

I don’t exploit or cheese the game.

Now this is the point where someone will inevitably say “you are not good enough to get reported”.

Reporting does not cause shadowbans.

I am not a gaming god, but according to my stats I am in the top 1% of WZ players. I have multiple wins, drop a dozen kills a game no problem (using kbm). I have won quads as a solo.

I have had people screaming at me in chat that they are reporting me.

I have never been put into limited matchmaking.

If you have, it is because you are not playing legit.

Play time is not a factor, you need to actually be good at the game and be mass reported. The threshold seems to be around 50 reports in 7 days. It doesn't matter who reports you, just that you were reported many times over a period of time.

Also, many people who get shadowbanned also play legit, so your argument is flase. That said, it begs the question, why are actual cheaters getting shadowbanned and not permanently banned? Why is shadowbanning even necessary?

I'll tell you why, money. Why ban people who are buying cosmetics.:2015coal:

"Reporting is critical but, must be used in combination with other factors before an account is actioned on. An account, for example, cannot be banned due only to reporting but if that account has also triggered other (and multiple) detections, a report can raise a red flag."

Now read what actually gets people put into limited matchmaking. The developers have been kind enough to make a list, due to the misinformation being spread.

https://support.activision.com/articles/call-of-duty-security-and-enforcement-policy

You will notice reporting is not on the list. Mass reporting can result in a shadowban (but for the person doing the mass reporting, not the person being reported)

And you ask why do people get shadowbanned, released, and not permanently banned?

Again look at the list.

You do not need to be cheating to get put into limited matchmaking. You just need to be naughty enough to be put in a lobby with other naughty children.

Limited matchmaking is a time out. The developers hope that when put there, people will learn their lesson, and change their behavior. Unfortunately most don't. They repeat the same behavior and end up straight back in there again.

Why? Well there are 2 reasons.

1. They don't see anything wrong with what they are doing (be it toxicity / VPN / Macros etc) and believe only cheaters get shadow banned.

2. Their ego reuses to accept any other reason for being shadow banned other than salty players reporting them.

Then they come to the forums and make these threads complaining about being reported because they are "too good at the game".

You claim that many legit players get shadowbanned . Well it's true that many people do claim to get shadowbanned for playing legit, yet they are usually posting on burner accounts or have pre-existing game bans. Again, ego.

Personally i think Limited Matchmaking is the perfect punishment. It infuriates those stuck in the loop. And as you point out, what does the developer have to lose? It keeps them playing, and only harms other naughty children. Hopefully some change their ways.

Well you are wrong. I have been shadow banned. I don't do anything in your list. And I don't even talk in chat at all. Neither in text or voice.

I don't know what you mean with "cheese the game"? Anyway your are wrong.

When I was shadow banned I didn't get in at all and didn't understand what was going on. I tried for several days to connect and used hours to try to understand why it didn't work.

I'm not used to gaming. I haven't been gaming for many years. Last time I played a game was before people used Steam. I tried to find a way to get support from Activision but with no luck (I know now they don't really care about even answering).

But I have a hard time to believe I was mass reported. This was in Al Mazrah Warzone and I rarely killed anyone. I was really bad (now I'm just bad). So I don't see why people would want to report me. I think I killed one guy every third game or something like that.

Therefore I don't know why I was shadow banned. But I was it for about 14 days and then I wasn't.

What I think is really bad is how they do it. I know I don't cheat or did anything wrong but I accept if they want to investigate something. But they should comunicate it with me. I spent many hours trying to understand what was wrong with my game or computer. I thought about buying the game but this made me decide I will absolutely not spend my money to a compay that treats its customers like this.

{LINK REMOVED}

I don't think they called it "limited matchmaking" back then. I couldn't join any match at all and it said I was suspended while being investigated.

Anyway I did not cheat or break any rules. So I don't think they act any good when they just suspend me without even notify me at all. I'm angry for all the hours I spent in Uninstalling/installing the game, drivers etc. I even had a phone call with the shop that made my computer.

I didn't know that there is a website you can visit to check if you are shadow banned. Why can't they just send you a notification in the game when they take an action like this. It would be the most simpel task to create that system.

When I first found out I was suspended I thought it could be becaouse I was so bad at the game that they didn't want me playing.

I have a friend who plays more or less MW3, he has only a few hours, he is older and does not use the chat or the microphone, it turns out that he is now shadowbanned, so stop writing nonsense defending the system
I also have a thousand hours between mw2 and mw3, I have been playing shooting games for 15 years and I have never used hacks, but 5 out of 7 games in search and destroy came out very positive because there are many one-handed people who are deaf or blind and don't know how to kill them and They report you, I was shadowbanned for 7 days until they removed it, one cannot be good for fear of being banned.
