1>) Remove overlays from running during the game like Steam overlay. and Razer Synapse or anything else you might be using including graphics software (i had AMD Adrenalin) which uses alt+R to open so its a hidden overlay.
these help fix a DirectX Error that can cause it to crash do to a misconfigured or corrupt DX File it is best to reinstall DirectX, in Win 11 you cant uninstall it so download the install file and run it,
here is the Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
2>) its a Memory issue (Bad Ram) to check < press ctrl+R to open Run and type mdsched > this will let you know. if it says you do have bad RAM, remove RAM and check one at a time till you find the bad stick and replace or remove if you have a lot (Ram will work fine till it gets to the bad sector then fail so its worth a check for peace of mind)
3>) Clean up your PC in general, Use Bleachbit or CCleaner this will remove other crap that may be inadvertently causing issues.
Press Windows key + R to open run and type: %temp% this is your temporary Folder, press ctrl+a to highlight everything and delete
4>) Check your event Log to see if your error or event crash was recoded and go from there to address the issue.
To open event log press Windows key + R in the box type: eventvwr
5>) Update your BIO's and chipset, Most people don't do its regularly and can lead to issues and crashes when not updated as updates games provide are done with the latest Bios and Chipset drivers
6>) Emailing Activision: After recording all event codes and a back and forth with Activision this was the response i got (and you will most likely get as well) --
"This is a Windows error, not anything specific to the game. It usually indicates that the graphics card has failed to initialize in some way. This could be caused by corrupt drivers, bad cache files, or corrupt DirectX files. Please uninstall your graphics driver, restart the PC, then download and install the latest driver using the CUSTOM install option and mark the box for a clean install. If issue persists, try reinstalling Windows."
--I ended up doing this as well with a complete reinstall of Win 11 because i upgraded from 10 and it will always eventually cause problems (has for me since win 7 every time) and nothing beats a fresh install, and when installed i reinstall AMD drivers only no AMD software. same goes for Nvidia, play a while with out the software and see if it still crashes if not put software back on and see if it crashes if so remove software and run CCleaner to remove left over files and Registry files
7>) Packet Burst--- In game click on the gear, go to Graphics, Click Quality tab scroll down to "On-Demand Texture Streaming" Now turn off, This might make the game look bad and jerky (It did for me ) or what i did is left on and clicked show more and turned up the buffer from 32 to max 64 this seemed to help.
8>) Game fails to start with no error code,--- do not run as Admin (steam or Call of Duty) also turning off Core isolation may help with some problems.
Open windows Security -- click Devise security -- click core isolation details -- Turn off Memory integrity and restart PC
9>) Fix the Exception Unknown Software Exception (0xc0000417)
Open start Menu and type troubleshoot, click Troubleshoot setting when it pops up.
In win 10 under Get up and running click windows update and then click run troubleshooter.
( this could take some time just a heads up )
In Win 11 click other troubleshooters and then under windows update click run
( this could take some time just a heads up )
Close windows and restart
Once restarted open command prompt as Admin
type: sfc /scannow
when done ( and it can take a while )
Type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
(this can take a while as well)
and we are done and this error should be fixed unless there is a hardware issue and i cant fix that.
i hope this Helps feel free to copy and reuse in forms as your own idk
Problem fixed.
I tried to fresh install Windows 10 and Windows 11, after that I installed all drivers including NVIDIA drivers using NVSlimmer, without any additional program installed, only Steam and COD, I also checked for any overclock settings on bios or something like that but everything is default.
By the way, I want to mention that any other game runs very well even with MAX graphics, games like GTA V, FC25, CS2, Forza Horizon, etc.
Someone found a fix for this?
Nothing working.
I don't have any problems with the game after installing Windows 10.
I tried both operating systems doing a test, I installed and tested the game 5 times on each operating system and I deduced that this problem is related to the new version of Windows 11: Version 24H2 (OS build 26100).
Considering that at the end of this year Windows 10 will no longer receive updates, the best option would be to install Windows 11: 23H2 (OS build 22631.2361) and wait for a fix from Microsoft (in case they realize that this problem is related to the latest version of Windows 11.
