Yes all new cods are tied to the launcher.

They even stated the launcher is perfect and easy and it is. Way to easy to switch between games.

activision is so perfect omg they make the best systems and launchers, so much better then steam which has only had billions poured into it and 20+ years of development, but im sure Activision's brand new launcher that cost probably a fraction of steam is totally better and has nothing to do with information/data and the fact they can't change your files mid-game. (Hence update requires restart every time I get done slopping on people)

But no I'm sure the PSN account for helldivers was also necessary, what can i say, psn is obviously more secure than steam, can't ban players on steam duh, even though PSN gets hacked every few years I mean
September 2023: Sony Investigates Alleged Hack

August 2017: Hacker Group Accesses Sony Social Media Accounts

December 2014: PlayStation Network Taken Down by Christmas DDoS Attack

November 2014: Hackers Steal 100 Terabytes of Data from Sony Pictures

June 2011: Sony Pictures Website Hacked, Exposing One Million Accounts

May 2011: Personal Details on 25 Million Sony Online Entertainment Customers Stolen

April 2011: Hackers Access Personal Data of 77 Million Sony PlayStation Network Users

July 2008: PlayStation Site Targeted with SQL-Injection Attack, Prompting Visitors to Download Fake “Antivirus Scanner”.

And that one time anonymous just removed all the files and held the code for PSN hostage in protest of sony's pricing. BUT NAH it's all for the good of the player ;) please use PSN and ACti launcher :((((

"update requires restart" is not new. They've done this for years, even without the HQ and on both Bnet and Steam.

Cold War used the old engine but this goes back further than that set of games.

Iw9 is built off of Iw8, but no, it really doesn't. Bo3 did it in game, where it would download while you were on the loading screen after it did the intro, and not to mention they were actually adding stuff and changing stuff, what are they updating now? It's not for cheaters.

Also no I heard from the guy advertising he just switched to Bnet and that everyone should do the same, because his game would no longer "profile sign out" and would no longer update requires restart... but I could be wrong about it not happening on their launcher. Still my point stands it's for changing something in your files as that's the only reason you'd have to restart. And if you say it's cheater protection I STG, Activision knows exactly who is and isn't cheating because their system uses a master game copy located on the server, and cross references it with your game copy actively. If something changes or is wrong it will "detect" you. What they do with that information is up to them. The system is literally unbypassable and it's what they have patented for the cheating detection as of 2019.

It's not "Rebalancing" they already "rebalance" enough as it is, which they also "rebalance" the guns coming in and out of the shop. (Nothing is balanced they want a rotating meta), SO it 100% isn't that, It's not for cheaters as... that's not how their cheat detection works, it doesn't use security values like roblox did. They aren't adding or taking away game modes because that doesn't require my whole game to update. Because they added and took away modes back in bo3. No patch logs, no update logs nothing. Just update requires restart, especially after you get done slopping on people who were taking 6-8 shots (HITMARKERS) to kill.

It happens on Bnet as well. It all started when they moved to using their own authentication servers to do everything.

And most of it is playlist updates, small (1 or 2 minor) bug fixes but not Ricochet stuff.

:winterbunny2023:

Update that says need to restart is because of the small updates that happen in game when they remove or add a mode or fix something or update the store or update the modes or remove something from store.

Which is why you have to restart. You can't expect to play a mode that was removed or see a bundle that was removed which is why they make you restart so you can't get something you shouldn't have.

You would just have to follow the developers on Twitter or check their trello pages.

It's all the same engine there is no new engine. ♥♥♥♥ is the same. They pump polygon count and do the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuff every year. You get high resolution textures every 3 or 4 cod same with poly count on weapons and people.

The new games are simply just DLC addons (CoD HQ was the modern warfare 2 2022 base game before becoming cod hq)
Arcane Jul 29, 2024 @ 3:58am
