Permanently muted or something?
Hi everyone,

First things first, I understand that this is a Call of Duty forum. But let's try to stay level-headed and civil as best as we can.

I haven't been able to chat in text since around season 2 of MW2. It just happened one day. I can see all the chat and hear people yelling around me just fine, but I cannot send anything out via text or voice chat.

I have checked my settings numerous times, both for the game and for steam. I have the exact same settings as the two buddies I play with, but I'm the only one who cannot send anything out. In our private lobby, they're able to hear me using voice chat (text is still not working for me), but once we get into MWZ/Multiplayer, proximity voice chat, or any type of voice chat and text chat don't work for me.

It's incredibly difficult for me especially in MWZ. If I get surrounded and killed while I was being careless, I can't give my location and call out for help. Thankfully, the community has been kind enough to rescue me every time, and I don't die that often. I haven't played multiplayer much since I'm unable to say anything to anyone.

Now, I won't say I'm completely blameless. A few hardpoint losses had me sh*ting on my team way back then. But I was never given a warning or anything. The only warning I was given was that my IGN (小便不冲,妻子不忠) was offensive. It roughly translates to "if you don't flush after you take a piss, your wife will cheat on you". Compared to some of the IGNs I've seen that literally has the alterations of the N-word or Jewish insults, I think my IGN is fine.

Does anyone else have a similar issue? I've tried contacting Activision support, and even though I told them I'm playing on the PC through steam, they gave me the boiler plate solution to clear the cache on my non-existent PS5/Xbox One, update my drivers (which are already at the latest version), and run my game as an admin (I'd like to know how I can do that too).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really have any issues finding servers, so I don't think I got a shadow ban. A shadow mute? Maybe. But I don't know if those things even exist.

Bump and an update.

I tried to get a ban appeal on Activision's website, but I'm not eligible for one, because the website shows that I'm not banned on any of their games.

I don't know what is this "something" that's now allowing me to communicate in game. If anyone even remotely has an idea, please help me. Thank you.

"Ban you for anything not pc/woke" what a weird thing to sY. You mean you can be banned for being a bigot? Nice.

Check the AUDIO settings in the file; Your documents/call of duty/players -
options.4.cod23.cst - open in notepad.

Remember to save file, if you change anything
It is smart to first take a copy of the original and past it in another folder.

What I should be changing in here? It's basically all of my settings for the game.

Look for settings about Mic. Other than that i don't have this problem, but it could be in this settings.

Maybe you could just delete the hole players folder?? BUT, ALL YOUR SETTINGS WILL BE SET TO DEFAULT - kb/m and graphics
