Game crashes as soon as it boots up

Call of duty will boot up and after checking for updates it crashes back to the desktop. I have validated game files and updated the operating system. It has not done this to any other game.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the game files.

Fixed. reWASD had conflicted with CoD. Uninstalling it is the only way.

omfg i’ve been trying to figure it out for two days now. I use rewasd so I can do push to talk on my elite series controller and reprogram my controller into thinking I’m pressing Z when I use my back handles. thank you so much. I would’ve never thought it was rewasd

Yeah, it's because of using certain cheats.

rewasd has nothing to do with cod , i dont have it and it crashed everytime

It does weapon people use it to exploit and cheat and that so many people are using it to cheat that Activision had to ban it

I've used Revo Uninstaller to remove rewasd because off the registry files left behind otherwise and no longer have any trace of it and my game is still crashing on startup. I've even tried verifying. I read on Reddit restarting, renaming file might help after all these steps so I will try that.

Update your graphics driver, then try again. Nvidia released one yesterday. Also note that the new COD update is broken.

I launched Steam as an administrator, then in the game folder I ran the cod executable file also as an administrator, but nothing happened, after these two actions I clicked the play button in Steam and when starting, I chose normal mode, not safe. The game started up smoothly, the shaders were installed and I could play. Maybe it will work for you too. (I don't have and never had reWASD)

I have used rewasd previous to this update. It is likely not the issue. It is only since this season 1 reloaded whateverthefunks it.

tried this same thing. game just closes at random points between launching and getting to the main menu. usually on checking for update
