IT's not cheating, it's a mapping software that people abuse to get aim-assist on pc cuz they suck :)

i had it installed for back paddle support since steam didnt want to work for a while at one point, then steam fixed its ♥♥♥♥ (and xbox added support for keybindings also) so i havent used rewasd since, forgot i even had it till today when this wouldnt start and i came here to see what was up. deleted it and now no problems

I haven't had ReWASD installed for years, yet am having the same crash issue all of y'all who had it installed have been dealing with.

Back when I uninstalled it I just deleted its main folder in Program Files, rather than running the Uninstall .exe. Is however the game detects it genuinely so invasive that a couple of leftover, non-functioning Registry files are enough to trigger the force-close?
If yes, what's my best bet for fixing that cuz I'm being driven up a wall trying to figure out how to fix this ♥♥♥♥.

Well that sucks. I was using reWASD to use my PS3 controller to play other games that doesn't recognize it unless it's mapped as an Xbox controller. Any other solutions for using my PS3 controller now?

Steam has native support for the PS3 controller.

If you want windows to recognize it as an XBOX controller, then DS4 should work, however knowing the way this is also used for recoil scripts and macros, I wouldn't be surprised if this is also banned next.

How do I know this? Because to fix my game* I had to INSTALL REWASD, just so I could run Uninstall.exe to clear those old entries, because years ago when I originally got rid of the app due to not needing it all I did was delete the Program Files folder.

If the game won't load because it detects ReWASD is -running-, then that'd be fine. But to just detect for it being -installed- when it's not cheat software by any stretch of the imagination is an utterly moronic implementation of "banning" it.
Like ♥♥♥♥, -Steam- has the same functionalities as ReWASD as a built-in feature nowadays, how the hell are they gonna ban -that-?

Because it absolutely IS cheat software. There are recoil scripts for every single gun in COD readily available for reWASD. It isn't about it emulating a controller to get AA. It's about doing that AND using scripts to remove all recoil from the gun. This is why it is banned.

maybe reinstalling then do an actual uninstall of rewasd? could work.

I use reWasd for my drawing tablet mappings. Ur telling me I got to uninstall because it just auto crashes the game if installed? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid why do I need to be punished because some youtuber discover macro software exists? Come on man this ♥♥♥♥ is so infuriating.
