Steam keeps asking to verify phone number for MW3
2 days ago I received a prompt to verify my accounts phone number when firing up the game, sending me to a Steam page to verify phone number. I received the SMS code and reverified my account. I was able to play for about 24hrs and then the next day in the evening received the prompt again. I clicked that I had already verified, tried that 50 times to no avail. When I asked them to resend me a verification code (tried 10x) a code never arrived. On my steam account it says phone number last verified 1 day ago,

Not sure what I'm supposed to do to be able to play. I played all of MW2 on this account with no issue and have been playing MW3 - got all guns leveled up for WZ - and then this randomly happens and I haven't been able to play for about a day.

I found a thread on reddit saying to delete Steam download cache which in the replies seemed to work for a lot of people, but no luck on my end.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, happy gaming!

Lesson 1 dont buy game keys or accounts online.

yea same thing for me, been unable to play the game since yesterday and now I'm ratelimited by steam saying I should "wait a little while before resending" and after 9 hours it still says the same thing now. Apparently you have to wait a whole 24 hours before you can try it again which means I will have been unable to play the game for 3 days and I don't even know if it will actually work then.

I very much understand the need to have a phone number attached but having to re-verify every few days is just completely useless and causes issues like this.

its so frustrating, im not sure if theres some kind of disconnect between Activision and Steam or whats going on. But when on Steam it says I verified 2 days ago and I can't do anything to get onto the game, even get another code to verify AGAIN, I just have no clue what else to do.

it made me do this for like a week then it stopped asking me was pretty annoying but i did not have any issues with the code arriving everyday.

i've removed and readded my phone number every day but it seems to only work for 24 hours at a time, max.
Same, i get almost exactly 24hrs then i need to remove and re-verify my number.

Sigh this has been happening to me since last week Friday. Now im unable to play the game, as the verification done by steam is not reaching my phone. I have to wait a week before i could try again to play...... I basically asked for a refund because this is a bit ridiculous......

It’s insane. I’ve been in contact with both activision and Steam and they both say to contact the other. I’ve sent screen shots of support emails to both from the other and I still can’t get a solution. At this rate it’s hard to justify getting another call of duty title through Steam. I like the platform a lot but I dunno. And no matter how many times I tell them the game redirects me to the Steam verification they still say it’s an Activision problem because it’s not a game created by Valve. So frustrating not sure how I got through all of MW2’s life cycle without this problem but here we are
