Crashing on startup

Anyone else having issues with the game crashing immediately upon startup? I was just playing this game for hours last night, when the game crashed on campaign mode. Now when I try and start it though Steam, I get a message asking to start the game in 'Safe Mode'. I've tried both. The game tries to start, then the logo in the bottom right corner freezes and it immediately kicks me out of the game.

I've tried updating my AMD drivers, windows update, checking registry files, cleaning the disk drive, defragmenting the drive, verifying game files AND uninstalling and reinstalling the game. All with the same issue.

Anyone having similar issues with any advice on a fix?

Same here, cant get it to work and ive also tried updating nvidia driver, verifying file integrities, uninstalling, reinstalling on hdd, uninstalling, reinstalling on ssd and it still wont work.

Ive had this issue since the first Modern Warfare back in 2019 and still doesnt know what the issue really is.

Can someone from activision actually see this message and just figure out something to fix it

same here.....new drivers installed...3x 104 (corrupted) files downloaded, didnt start again

yeah, same here, and activision does nothing.
since mw3 launch mine mw2 dont even start or freezes when open up mw2

Damn. With everyone seemingly having the same issues, I would assume it's something the developers could patch?

Same here. I've been having this issue since they released it. it's an error that is probablyt related to DirectX and then it give me a random code like: "0x00001338 N"

Same here. Deleted my Call of Duty Documents folder and was able to get to the game to start but once the game says restart required for update it starts crashing on startup again.

Crazy 1/4th of a hard drive has to be dedicated to a broken AAA game

Saw this possible solution in another thread yesterday. Had to download and install an older AMD driver update (23.5.2). Just tested it today and while i haven't tried playing an actual match yet, but the game did not crash on start up. Could be a possible workaround for anyone with AMD graphics.

Has anyone found a fix to this issue? i was able to play it for 5 hours back in 2023 but just tried playing again (Feb 2024) and i'm crashing. HELP! Thank you

for me what solve is update the bios,
for now is running
take a peek to you motherboard bios, if your version is updated
