Direct X crashes
Just picked up MW3, and am getting Directx crashes on a strong rig after 2-3 games. Typically it happens once I leave a lobby and am back in the menu. Happens 5-10 times per 4 hours session. I was really hoping there would be a solution, as I've been suffering from this issue since MW2. I couldnt find much relevant information using google, anyone here experienced this? If so have you found a working solution?

do you have texture streaming on?

I do, I just increased my cache file size. Also went to users>local>me>steam>cod>and deleted all the files in the cache manually. Then I turned off nvidia one click overclocking (modest 110 mhz loss). Seems to have resolved my problem after all this time

turn it off, youll never crash again. same thing was happening to me in mw2, buddy told me about it, turned it off, and have crashed twice in over a hundred hours since

Same here, but the difference is that now I can't even launch the game properly. It gives me a black screen and it crashes right away. The worst thing about all of that is that even when I verify the integrity of the files it'll do the same thing, It's not getting it fixed. I tried checking the app data by pressing WINDOWS+R and typing "appdata". Then I clicked on the "Local" folder and went to the Activision folder. After that, clicked on "Call of Duty" and then on "crash reports". Try to find the most recent folder named as "cod_CL" by checking the time on it. That folder will tell you all the corrupted files that have been causing the crashes. I even tried clicking on on of the folder inside the file name as "dxdiag_oncrash". I ran that folder using the Windows Note Pad. After that I clicked on CTRL+F to search for "Diagnostics". The issues will be named as "P1, P2, P3, P4, etc.(If you have more)". Well, that is all I have tried to do, but I don't really know what to do with that information. I am considering going to a professional to get that checked and I will show them that info. I', still having the same issues you are having. I sent a message to the Activision support. You should try as well. It is really frustrating, but I still have energy to try(shouldn't be like that though). I hope I have helped you in some way. Best of luck and If you get it fixed, please share with us If you can! :)

If you are interested I found a solution that worked perfectly for me! Go to users>me>appdata>local>me>cod> and delete all the files there. That manually clears the cache. My above post path directory was incorrect. I'd tried uninstalls, and clearing my cache via cleanmgr, verifying integrity and reinstalling. None of those methods worked. and I could tell those methods never got rid of the bad cache files, because they were dated since before I had tried the uninstall or auto cache clear.
