Does anyone know what happens when said timer runs out?

after the 45min timer, the storm (purple circle on map) begins to increase in size until the whole map is filled. another timer will start after the 45min is over, lasting 15min. the exfils will despawn one by one (i think each 5min), till only the furthest from the storm is up.

You can survive inside the storm, but you might want to have a gas mask to avoid permanent damage. also all zombies inside the storm are at tier3 and some stormcallers also spawn, which have alot of healthpoints and do significant damage.
After the initial 45 min, all exfils will have 4 regular gas masks inside to ensure you won't die to the storm while exfiltration.

Edit: also there is a new boss since season 1, who will only spawn after the 15min timer started and will be inside the storm. if you manage to kill it with other players, there will be a gate next to the reward rift which exfiltrates you instantly.

so we can say that a zombie match last like 1 hour right?

maximum timer is 60min. I would suggest that you exfil asap the first 45min timer is about 5min, since in my experience the server will get pretty wonky once the storm is rising and everyone is spamming the exifltrations, causing alot of calculations on the server with the spawns etc.

they decreased the zombies at the exfil spawning, but increased it again with some elite enemies with release of season 1. a lot of ppl get disconnects or game crashes at that point, which lead to loss of all your inventory and equipment + insuranced weapon. As long as you don't need to, don't wait for the second timer.

Is there only one zombie-mode ingame? Or can you swap mode to run solo with no timer like in COD cold war?

Can NOT swap mode with no timer, only 1 mode...

Outbreak solo was great. It even let you pause the game to take bathroom breaks casually grinding to level 100 at your own pace.

No clue never gad time run out but I assume the storm will just kill u eventually

It will, if the last timer doesn't.

so as far as the exfill despawning durring the circle expanding, as the radiartion goes over an exfill thats what makes it so you cant call it in any more. but after the 3rd default exfill is covered a "final" 4th exfill will show up outside the radiation still, it takes off as the match timer finally reaches 0, no way to make it take off sooner.
