Shadowbanned for no reason legit
I literally just BOUGHT the damn game last night, first game i was matched with cheaters and i read about checking to see if i was shadowbanned via activision website. This is what i got:

NOT ELIGIBLE FOR APPEAL

LIMITED MATCHMAKING
GAME(S):
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Call of Duty: Warzone
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
DESCRIPTION:
Your account is in a limited matchmaking state due to a potential violation. Unfortunately, we are unable to inform you when the account will exit a limited matchmaking state.

You may check back here periodically to see if your status clears, or changes to a temporary or permanent ban. Exiting a limited matchmaking state does not mean your account has been cleared of potential violations.

I bought the $100 edition on PS5, linked it to my PC steam version (activision account merge or w/e) and played 1 match on PC, and this happened.

I never cheat/cheated, legit, has this happened to anyone else that hasn't cheat? Also how long does this last? anyway to fix it?

im in the same boat, its a joke and disgusting how they do this because haters have submitted cheating reports against you just because you are better than them. they should only ban when you have been proven to be cheating and ip ban you so these cheats cant just go buy another cheating account for £10. activision is a scam. no customer support or nothing. 20+ years i've been with these c**ts. ill be honest this has made me feel like cheating now seen as i have been accused off it!!

on PS5 i did average 70-100 kills on that small snow map. I used keyboard mouse on PS5, and on hardcore, so for me it was super easy to always top frag, guess thats it then. I agree, this new system is a joke.

Fresh accounts may be shadowbanned for a day or two.
You know, this seems to be happening more and more now days. I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about paying upwards of $100 USD and then getting banned after just one game. I agree, this is an outrage because you paid a good amount of money and now you aren't even able to play the campaign. I read a document about this one time and it explained that Activision uses an automatic detection anti chat software that apparently labels non-cheat software as malware/cheating software.

According to an official document written by an Acitivision employee, they are aware of the problem with their program and are actively working on a fix so that applications like Discord don't get flagged. But Activision is failing to see the real issue at hand. Their denying access to players who have paid real money to play their game. It has become a routine thing. A play pays $100, they install the game, and play for the first time. Next thing they know, their banned for life without the possibility of appeal. This is essentially like arresting someone under the suspicion of a possible homicide. However, instead of going to trial, you just go ahead and execute them for something you don't even know they did or didn't do.

What Acitivision is doing is essentially theft. They are taking our money and then banning players under the even the slightest suspicion of cheating. This is ridiculous because not everyone cheats. Most people use Discord for chatting with friends during gameplay. It seems the issue is with the anti cheat software, not the players. According done one study done 2022, only about 0.60% of PUBG players actively "cheat" in ranked matches. And in non-ranked matches, it is slightly more. In Call of Duty: Warzone, I believe the count was 4% of players were actually cheating. However, about 45% of players from both games have been banned under the suspicion of cheating software being detected on their PC/device. I just don't understand how anyone could look at this and think "yeah, half of the player base is cheating." Like there is about 3,000,000 players in PUBG and even more in warzone. There is no way that 1.5 million people are actively cheating and getting away with it given the number of complaints that are sent every day. I just don't see it being possible. It is quite clearly a problem with the software, not the players.

I stand with everyone who has been banned for this outrageous accusation. If someone thinks you are cheating, battle them 1v1 and see who wins. If you detect something unusual, report it. But don't just think they are cheating because you're bad at the game. That's just childish. I'll try to find the link to that Activision document I read. I'll leave it down below for anyone who is interested in reading what it has to say. For the record though, I think Activision is a suspicious company making very shady decisions right now. This is why I don't play Call of Duty games, I don't give money to companies that accuse us gamers of using random exploits that we don't even know of. Now, even if they're right and you are cheating, I don't know how they'd prove it without accessing your device. They'd need your permission, which I'm clearly not going to do. That's why they have an anti cheat software in place. If only it actually knew what a cheat was though.

If you have been banned for using a random exploit that you are certain you don't have, comment, together, we'll build a case against Activision and InfinityWard. Together we'll show them the error of their ways. Maybe then, they'll allow us to play.

Very well said. Another issue is for people
Who spend $$$$ on skins, then one random day get banned and lose the account for weeks or forever? It scares me to buy skins on this game now.
Tbridges10 Jan 9, 2024 @ 11:49am

Yeah this might be my last COD game ever. This new stupid system ruined the game/games. ill play it once unbanned couple hours to make my purchase somewhat worthy, then never look back. Will stick with Valorant and Battlefield.

What a joke legit tho man, only one word comes to mind...Pathetic.
Whispdragoon62 Jan 9, 2024 @ 11:19pm
Shadowbans are an insult to the general publics intelligence.

Like you're really going to sit in a 200 ping lobby with no players and be unable to figure out you were shadow banned.

I feel like its a hallmark of authoritarian group think. I really would not shed a single tear if Activision went bankrupt lol.

I love how they put all this effort into thinking the shadowban process is genius and then they do not actually adequately support reviewing the shadowbans in a timely manner.

They just wanted to use their cool new hammer on some nails.

Don't want to actually bother reviewing the aftermath.

Awesome sauce. Just go out of business already.

Everyone needs to be aware so they don't spend any money.

Can't write $%^& code if you can't afford a programmer to write it haha ;)

I agree it is theft by any other name. To be falsely accused of cheating and be out of $100's of dollars.

Make it into a short 1 liner like "Activision steals from paying consumers by banning them of cheating with no evidence or proof" to make it very clear.
