Remove CoD HQ nonsense and let us launch directly into MW2/3
I can no longer go into MW2 DMZ as I need to get past the change my username screen, which doesn't let you change my username due to "not having any tokens" even though I've never changed my username once and it's still the same name as I used in MW2. This game company has locked me out of MW2 as I am now required to launch CoD HQ, which enters into MW3.

But in order to select DMZ I'd have to get past the username switch which I have no intention of changing my username for MW3. I only came to play MW2, wtf should I go through a username change in order to play MW2!?!

UPDATE: I was able to launch normally (no longer being given a prompt to change username) once I restored my "players" folder from a backup I had. This "players" folder is usually located in "C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\Call of Duty\players". Hope this helps anyone out there facing the same issue as I did.

launch game --> update requires restart --> launches game --> click DMZ --> quits game --> launches game for dmz --> update requires restart --> launches game and THEN can i start.

...

people realy need to vote with their wallet but i guess it's too late for that

They probably do it for 2 reasons:
- the shared assets accross both games (otherwise you need twice the amount of space)
- pushing people towards buying MW3

But even then, just put MW2 and MW3 into 1 game or make it separate. Having two launch icons (or even 3 if you would count a separate COD HQ) should be doable.

Im having a similar issue. Installed MW3 to my desktop a littlewhile ago after having played it on my Asus Ally the past few weeks. Go to play the game on the desktop and im stuck at the "Change Your Usernaem" screen. meanwhile everything still works fine on my Ally.

I found a fix for my issue, I think this might work for you as well so just give it a try.

Take the "players" folder from "C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\Call of Duty\players" that's in your Asus Ally and paste it onto your desktop and you shouldn't have the "Change your Username" pop-up screen anymore when launching.

Not really sure if it works for different rigs since I've never tried it before, but I think it should work.

Valve is one of the best companies to have such a monopol as Steam. But allowing this ♥♥♥♥ is a massive L for Valve.

Can we just go back to putting a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disk in a disc drive to play a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game?... I'm wayyyy to old to be jumping through hoops to play a game with pre-teens.

No, ♥♥♥♥ having so many CDs. Also uneccessary resource waste to have a physical storage per game. And CDs are slow af.

Remember when the No CD short cuts were free and usually available within two weeks of release?

You sell it when you no longer wish to play it. You don't own ♥♥♥♥ nor have a tangible product when you go digital.

"yOu DoN't OwN iT" Yeah, and yet you can still play it with no single disadvantage. Except for not being able to sell it. But screw that. Pay for what you play. It's as easy as that. If you don't want to pay that much, wait for a discount. I rather have publisher get money from every sale to be able to afford the development of the next game than some people selling their games as soon as they are finished with it (CoD and Activision being one of the few exceptions to this rule, but for most publisher I stand by this point)

What do you mean by "No CD short cuts"? Cracks? If so, I don't see how this would have anything to do with my comment, as cracks have nothing to do with CDs (CDs can have DRM too. DRM just got better since digital took over, as most software got better since then). Also, this would honestly be a point against CD too. While we could argue wether or not cracks have an impact on sales as publishers claim (they don't), they being easier to make would be in no way a positive argument.

Yeah, because publishers were starving when their games were on disk.... Games have been primarily digital for how long now, and the quality of AAA studios gameplay gets worse every year... But okay, you keep giving undeserving publishers your money for half-baked garbage haha, maybe they'll get some integrity after another decade of digital sales.
"So they can afford development of their next game" lol. Did you suffer a concussion half-way through your post?

You could simply own the game and play offline if you so chose. With the crack you negate the need to have the CD/DVD in the pc. Maybe I am just old, but I don’t see why the game couldn’t be installed on a modern HD and work.

problem is DMZ is free and yes MW3 you need to pay for but this is just their way to try and get you to buy MW3

Does Shader Optimization have to be performed for both COD HQ and also for my games as well ,like if I own MW2 ,the shader optimization happens twice -once for the COD HQ nonsense and then once for my other game?
