The schematics which you quickly realise you need to unlock to seriously progress are time gated. They say they're "rare drops" but you get one every 4-5 hours playing zombies. You can also get duplicate schematics and if you do and you extract with a schematic you already have: You get nothing for it. It doesn't even refresh the cooldown of the schematic you would have just used or even give you the item straight up that it's supposed to unlock for you to craft. It also doesn't give extra XP. It's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
You get 1 hour in total to do what you need to do and extract. That's 45minutes of normal play followed by 15 minutes of DMZ's nuke field extending out except the radius turns all zombies feral and buffs them significantly(They run, they do extra damage, they're faster, you basically die).
So far in that 45minutes of gameplay per round I've found it's impossible to get to Tier 3 Pack A Punch in-game and the zombies around the T3 area are so insane and endless that you need to get PAP2 in Tier 2, then farm 15,000 points and B-Line it to the PAP3 machine while praying you don't get killed while you run or drive toward it as you're swarmed by special zombies, hellhounds and everything in between.
Also, because you absolutely have to have your weapon upgraded to "epic" attack power and have PAP3 to do much of anything in the center zone you don't stand a chance of ever seeing or completing that unless you spend MASSIVE resources beforehand b-lining it to that area at the start of the map. By spending "Massive resources" I mean you use schematics you already have unlocked which allows you to make one of each every 3 hours and go in fully loaded with equipment, weapon mods, PAP2 shortcuts(There are VERY rare drops in-game where you can bring in an item to instantly upgrade your weapon to T1 or T2 which cuts down 30minutes of grind - in a 45minute match), T3 armour, T3 backpack, fully unlocked weapons and special weapons(If you've been lucky enough to find the schematics).
Schematics are so bare and so limited to find with no way for your to increase the odds of finding one that you may as well be given a countdown timer as to when the next one is given to you. You can also get duplicate schematics(Yep...) which is some BS. If you do T1 or T2 missions the rewards don't increase the chance for a schematic by doing harder tiers. Infact doing harder tiers really has ZERO impact on the game at all. you don't get more XP, you don't get more cash for doing them and it doesn't increase the chance of you getting a schematic.
Oh, and selling stuff? DMZ you could sell a GPU for 5 or 8k. Hard drives were like 500 currently. In MW3's zombies a hard drive is 80 - yes, eight. zero. - per drive. Forget about getting expensive goods to sell because everything is worth peanuts unless you find a comic book that nets you a "whopping" 100 or a legendary comic that nets you 780... You'd be better off running in a circle killing zombies at an exfil point to get XP, level your weapon and cash to upgrade your weapons. It's literally that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid how they've made things.
Also, there's P2W skins in Zombies. The same P2W ♥♥♥♥ that's in DMZ is also in Zombies.
It's super low effort and everything is either "borrowed" from other parts of MW2 or just flat out ripped from the previous game.
Teams are 3 and you can play solo or with randoms.
The biggest FU is the fact you cannot seriously progress in this as a solo player joining randomers because, much like a computer, you're only as powerful as your weakest team member. If you have T2 PAP and the other two players don't have T2 pap you have to stay in T1. If you have T2 or T3 armour and one other person in your group doesn't; guess what! You gotta stay in T1 and wait for them to get armour(a drop or buy). So when you get a headstart and get T2 you're still waiting for your teammates to catch up.
This was by design so that people would be artificially gated in progress unless seriously dedicated to the grind and even at that if they're with a group of two other friends you have to all be equally dedicated to the grind - because it is a grind to progress with how they've implemented this system. DMZ was less grindy than this.
The best would be to play solo with no timer. I hope they put it like that.
then I saw zombies, and I had to play that... Ioved the concept.
so far I've enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed any game mode for a long time.
I hope they add new maps... new objectives or "stories" and monsters.
I think adding a pvp version if it, where you play as zombies, or some kind of merc vs merc for objectives mode would add a lot to it, but I doubt they'll go that rout
All friends only and private profiles show up as level 0 to non-friends and everyone respectively. The privacy setting basically hides the level as well.
Their profile is friends only, like mine.
