cant join friends party in mw3

its something to do with steam accounts.

How i tested:
Did all troubleshooting possible and had issue.
Logged into friends steam and it worked fine (i.e. not a pc issue)
Refunded the game and bought on a different steam account (i have 2.) works fine.
This was with the same activision account and pc only change was different steam login.

If you want to play asap refund and buy on a new steam account. but i know this is a hassle.

having the same issue. everyone can join me, but I cant join anyone. Is their a fix, or all we all just SOL been dealing with this since game came out. I tired everything but resetting my activision account. anyone got anything?

I just finished a video explaining what the issue is and how to work around it. There is no "Fix" you can do on your end, however there is a work around that will let you and your friends play together.

This is not steam exclusive, players on battle.net and xbox are having the same issues.

i had the same issue, I imported the legacy settings from another COD, this the in the Account and Network category in setting within the game

I fixed this problem...though I didn't find anyone that knew how to do it on any discussion board, so I thought I would return and maybe help the next person. So on PC (obviously) I had moved my game to a different drive and this problem had started. So what I did was to install it back on the original drive (which didn't work) but what did work is that I installed warzone from my game on steam. Since I moved from BLIZZARD to STEAM for the last two titles I figured it was related. Once I did that I closed the game and deleted the CALL OF DUTY folder located under my DOCUMENTS folder. I am sure just deleting the Player folder inside of that folder, would of worked too but anyway, then I restarted the game and set the contrast, RESTORED LEGACY settings from MW2 and I was able to join my friends again.
