MWIII - Vests. Pick 10 System.
The Vests in MWIII are terrible. Not only because they restrict class veriety but they are unbalanced and have really weird perk selections. For instance Overkill users can never use boots. Why?

They should allow the player to customise the vests when they hit max prestige or make the vests level up through challenges related to their specific buffs and once maxed out allow the player to customise them then.

Make the Vest the pick 10 system. Have a base vest buff you can choose from, like gunner vest with overkill, max ammo and fast reload but that costs 3 points because it's super powerful. Or Infantry vest with Tac Sprint cost 1 point due to it being very basic for example. We really do need more vests to choose from though, the current selection is very limiting.

Then select, Boots, Gloves, Lethal, Tactical, Field upgrade and Gear slots.
You can unequip any of the items you want and use the points to equip more Gear. To a maximum of 3. Make it a pick 8 system.

So I'd choose Gunner vest as the base, That costs +3
Lethal +1
Tactical - Empty
Field Upgrade +1
Gloves +1
Boots +1
Gear +1
Gear - Empty
Gear - Empty
Thats 8. That's a class.

Or Choose Infantry Vest as the base, thats +1
Lethal +1
Tactical +1
Field Upgrade - Empty
Gloves +1
Boots +1
Gear +1
Gear +1
Gear +1
Thats 8. That's a class.

So go hard in with overkill and max ammo, fast reload and lose a basic feature of a class(Tactical) with only 1 gear slot. Or choose a weak vest and be able to have 3 gear slots also whilst losing a basic feature of a class(Field upgrade) by choice. Not being forced into choosing these very restrictive vest builds.

Also cap the build at 8 because even with a weak vest you shouldn't be able to run 3 gear items without compromising your class in some way.

Infantry Vest +1
Engineer Vest +2
Gunner Vest +3
Demolition Vest +1
CCT Vest +3
Overkill Vest +2

Even with 3 gear slots classes wouldn't be OP, especially when the trade off is losing items from a basic loadout or choosing a weaker vest. We've had 6 perks classes before in the past and the customisation then made classes really fun to build.

i believe there will be a system like this in place, in the beta there was a base class with the engineer(?) vest that had different slots then the one used for created classes.
