Trust me, that is only partially true. Aim assist is strong yes. But those that stomp very good PC players are cheating. They use stuff like cronos (they play with mouse and keyboard but with aim assist on). Whenever I see a controller player stomp a whole lobby they are cheating and doing flick shots which are simply impossible with the controller (since they are way too fast, no controller sensitivity can achieve the sudden move of a mouse with high DPI).
I am a PC player, with mouse and keyboard. I am playing HC only and I got an overall K/D of 3. I stomp lobbies by being extremely fast with my aim unless there are wallhackers or aimbotters (cronos can be considered aimbot).
But the biggest reason is why I would never recommend going for a controller is because you will not be able to work on your motor skills. Doing insane mouseflickshots is a skill. Getting 87 kills and 3 deaths in a HC lobby is skill that can not be achieved with a controller. But you can never develop that with a peripheral like a controller in an FPS game.
