Next in line would be Black Ops III (and that's too bad, Coop Campaign is a great feature).
If anyone says Infinite Warfare, Ghosts or MW 2019 sucked - you're tasteless.
But then they broke the bottom of the barrel with Vanguard.
Ghosts is ♥♥♥♥, both infamously reused assets campaign and barely playable MP.
Advanced Warfare was... at best, unoffensive. Despite being a radical shift in movement style I honestly can't remember much aside from Kevin Spacey. Bland and easily forgotten.
Black Ops 3 was pretty good in comparison to Ghosts, played it probably the most during that era. Good balance of advanced movement and broken guns in a fun way.
Infinite Warfare is god-tier campaign (for a CoD game) but pretty forgettable MP (I think they added those fckuing clown skins on what, second month of the game? who the hell wants those stupid clown skins)
WW2 was semi-decent with pretty fun campaign (full of BS and stupidity but that's ok for a COD game) and I guess okay MP. Didn't stick long, died very soon.
BO4 is when ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan. Actively unfun to play, and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BR that is for whatever insane reason considered "best". ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tier game, first game to be worse than Ghosts.
MW2019 - now that's a proper comeback. Good sense of artstyle, toptier gunplay, animatons, everything. Coop mode was sadly undercooked, too much untapped potential and Warzone, despite actually being a breath of fresh air in BR genre I actually wish it never existed.
BOCW - Surprisingly solid campaign with good characters and twists but MP is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not even a step back but a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ somersault wavedash backwards into garbage can. Was super unfun to grind it out - at the end of it lifecycle I got semi-used to it but it was mostly unpleasant.
Vanguard - game so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it was the first game to break a yearly cycle for me, didn't even bought it. From the first preview at open beta I saw ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CoD yet, Ghosts left far behind. Checked it out during middle of lifecycle during one of many free weekends (the fact that it had so many should tell you something) Garbage SP, Garbage MP, Garbage Zombies. Not to mention meme-tier gunsmith that made my eyes bleed.
MW2 2022 - definitely a step down from MW2019 but still a solid game on it's own even if most of original devs that made MW2019 great isn't there anymore. Doesn't know what's a consistent artstyle is and it's a shame but even in this cringe state it's like night and day between this and Vanguard. In comparison it's almost a masterpiece.
MW3 2023 - Played open beta and sledgehammershits are at it again. SHG should be fcuking disbanned and forbidden from making any videogames at this point. Guns are a joke and gameplay feels on par with Vanguard. Still, maybe it's nostalgia talking but due to it taking on the same maps as OG MW2 it somehow isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥. We'll see on release.
Best SP: MW2 (2009).
Best MP: MW3 (2011).
It had no real single player story & it copied a level from the Band of Brothers series.
100% Agree
MW 2019
Followed by MW2 22'
The turned up EOMM/SBMM or whatever it is made these games bad. And Warzone and DMZ should never have been in a COD game. Despite how popular it became. But that Covid crap hit and our country got more weird.
But I will say 2022 was the best COD if you don't consider SBMM, Warzone, PVP in DMZ, Store Bundles holding content that should be earned in-game and overpriced, Bugs, Crashes, and weird weapon balancing - MW2 22' has been my favorite COD because of the Raids and how MP felt when a game didn't feel to turned up because of SBMM.
COD 2 will always be my favorite. When Campaign was priority and before all the controller nerds got into Multiplayer....
