This isn't one, it's a mainstream arcade shooter and the people of today like flashy colors and things that stand out. As much as people don't like it, obviously there is a storefront like it for a reason; people gobble em up. It's one of those things the newer generation has decided they like and it's going to stay. Buckle up and get used to it.
Not just the celeb, footballer and streamer skins, but also the ridiculous other skins, like Ghost with a crystal skull as a head, or a literal cat operator.
I can accept (to an extent) the somewhat futuristic skins like Arthur, but all the weird glowy effects and the ones that lean further into weird effects just look ridiculous.
It bothers me that we don't have more tactical skins, I would have loved if the Shadow Company skin you use in Shadow Siege was handed out as an operator skin, potentially as an alternate skin for the ranger (I know we already have the barrage skin but a generic armored shadow merc would be nice).
Even just in general some more generic tactical military skins would be nice. Have some Los Vaqueros skins, SAS, Shadow Company, etc...
It's a shame that the vast majority of triple A games are taking this route. R6 Siege has done a similar approach recently with Rick and Morty skins and now a (rumoured) master chief skin.
That and the fact that there is no rhyme or reason to teams, so many times in multiplayer I have died because I've hesitated not knowing whether an operator is an enemy or not.
You can't even decide based on their factions considering Graves and Velikan are Kortac and the barrage ranger and Arthur are Specgru, despite all supposedly being Shadow Company operators.
