you can try:
Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter. (This will stall for a moment.)
Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter. (Don't restart yet.)
Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
Start a CMD PROMPT (ADMIN)
Enter this command, netsh advfirewall reset.
No change in symptom after this unfortunately.
Got the expected prompts to allow steam/mw2 through windows firewall after resetting and all that good stuff, but still goes from "Checking for updates" to "Server disconnected, profile signed out"
The only other things I got, with no real improvement were
1. Another single hueneme concord error instead of the instant kick
2. When switching the steam client, it downloaded a 300-ish MB SCR, then MW2 opened a steam window on launch, ghost-downloaded (Does not show in steam queue) around 150 MB of files, which it never had before then had to prompt me to launch. Still failing after "Checking for update".
The game always shows that I'm logged in, gets well past the connecting to servers portion etc. but never the update check.
At wit's end, wish I could just get my money back.
After launching multiple times it now regularly fails at "Loading playerstats" Instead of "Checking for update" There is a long pause and it seems to be dropping off the connection to the server at whichever point it decides to stop, but seems to be connecting to start.
In Xbox network - let it check network. press check again if it fails.
You should have Open/moderate NAT and server connected.
If it fails after more "check again", use the links for advice
It seems that you have blocked IPv6 on your computer.
That is why MWII sub sevices are failing.
My ISP does not provide IPV6 service from what I can tell and never did, so this doesn't seem to be the cause of my problems.
