What additional information would you require in order to determine the cause of the problem?
The PC is updated with all the drivers, I tested different games which displayed zero issues, no BSOD, and specifically for MWII I tried running the game in safe mode and not, which still crashed the PC. Although it did verify 14 files, the game now doesn't seem to run at all. So I can reinstall it to see if that fixes any issues...
Reminds me that I should check the current version beforehand. On that note, after reinstalling the game, it's still crashing the PC. At a second attempt, it crashed right when the "safe mode" pop-up message appeared.
Lots. It's a new PC, correct? First thing you should do with a new build, after installing OS, is update BIOS and make sure everything is stable, such as RAM and CPU timing. Do not initiate with an overclock or XMP going, and make sure everything runs stable without it before turning that stuff on. It could be a thermal throttling issue due to poor thermal paste application, a poor seal between the cooler and the CPU, or other issues.
I'm not familiar with AMD cards but apparently the game can have issues with them. I highly doubt, however, that it's going to be causing a restart. You say you've got the latest drivers, so we can put graphics at the bottom of the pile for now. Restarts like this, I always start with RAM. One thing I check for with new builds is that the RAM is in the correct slots, which should normally be, for two sticks, the second and fourth RAM slots, in dual channel mode. If this is all fine, I might try running a simple POST configuration with only the most basic stuff to get everything working: CPU, GPU, one hard drive, and one stick of RAM in the second slot, and see if everything works with just that before adding everything else.
Diagnosing problems with a new build is not easy to do without being hands on with the system itself, so there's probably not a heck of a lot I can do to help. All I know is, my biggest problem with my own new build not long ago was definitely PEBKAC. I had no picture to the monitor and couldn't figure out why. I tried reseating GPU, moving drives and trying a POST config, nothing. After about an hour of fiddling, I finally realised what the problem was: the DP cable wasn't all the way into the port in the monitor.
That was it. Sometimes, it's something small and silly that you laugh at yourself for later, but I couldn't tell you with any degree of confidence what your problem is without really getting hands on, I'm sorry.
tried running OTHER games ?
checked every cable and connection ?
Didn't even think about the BIOS in the first place... The game crashed with XMP turned on and it's still crashing when turned off. I suppose that makes sense. To my surprise, the current BIOS version is the third version from August, 2020. I suppose I should just update to the latest BIOS version (WHICH funny enough, the latest update was released literally yesterday, when I built the PC)?
Initially, I did insert the memory to the incorrect slots. But now it seems it's not the issue anymore, even after inserting to the right slots.
That kinda happened to me, and just like your case, turns out that the HDMI cable wasn't connected all the way. So it wasn't a GPU problem, thankfully.
No problem! I'll get into updating the BIOS and then see if anything particularly for MWII improves.
Any other games I've checked ran without issues and every cable is properly connected.
I installed the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
Is it the correct software, regardless? I actually didn't download the AMD Ryzen Master.
Gotcha!
