Stop these fake gun names
No, it is not because of copyright. It is because the pansies at activision consider it "advertising firearms to minors"... in a game rated M. So stupid how much of a bunch of wusses there are in gaming now. We cannot even name a gun without it being censored for the sake of being politically correct

just look at the law... https://casetext.com/statute/california-codes/california-business-and-professions-code/division-8-special-business-regulations/chapter-39-marketing-firearms-to-minors/section-2294980-marketing-firearms-to-minors

fr tho, i loved seeing realistic gun names in cod, videogames are the reason why i can recognize most guns nowadays lol

It is a copyright issue though, they don't want to pay to use the names. Look at how much Tarkov wastes on licenses to use the real names. Its a massive part of their budget. Something not needed to make the game enjoyable. Would not fly with investors if it cuts into their profits.

Im so tired of realistic names for guns. Theyre so uninspiring and BORING. fake names are funny and some can really take the piss like in destiny

Absolutely is because of Copyright.

Remember when we had fun weapon names such as the PP7, KF7 Soviet, Samurai, Enforcer, CMP-150, Mag 60, Cerebral Bore, Flak Cannon, etc? Now people just want boring real life names.

My dude, that's not a counter. That's about marketing guns not likenesses and names in games. In addition that law only applies to CA not the entirety of the US or what this actually involves which are trademarks/patents

The articles I sent you have official reps from both EA and Barrett Rifles both acknowledging the existance of licensing agreements. Meaning they needed to license the weapons to use them.

If you take even a cursory glance around online you can find *tons* of forum posts from devs to other devs about this exact topic and the answer is always the same; You can make it look the same but if you want to use the name/logo you need to get permission or license it from the company that produces it

Like it or not, reality is not lining up with what you want to be true. Not believing it won't change it

Dude, the second one I sent the guy from Barrett Rifles literally alludes to the series he can't explicitly name is Call of Duty. He literally says "I can't say which title due to licensing reasons. However I can say you should check out COD" - slightly paraphrased of course

Because they are being sued for use of real names, regardless of your feelings the company is being sued over it.

You don't care. Plenty of people care, which is why plenty of people keep wanting to know the reason. Cope.
