FPS suddenly halved

Since today my FPS have halved from 145+ (limited at 145)
to 70-75 FPS

Yesterday everything was fine.

Settings were mostly high, except for shaders, those were set to low.
Drivers are up to date, and i made no changes to the game or anything else.

I reinstalled shaders, although nothing happens (usually top left of the screen shows that shaders are being installed)

repaired the game, nothing.

just for fun i maxed out all the settings to ultra - 90-100 FPS. Makes no sense to me.

Running a 3080ti, ryzen 7 5800x on windows 10

Any help is greatly appreciated.


EDIT:
- Benchmarked in MW2 and saw my CPU was bottlenecking 99%
- Checked CPU Usage, only a single thread was properly used and at 95-100% usage
- Closed all background programs to figure out the culprit, turns out my Bitdefender Antivirus was the issue here. Turned it off, and my FPS are back at 145+

I have no idea how the Antivirus limited MW2's usage to a single thread, but yeah. Somehow it does.

Also go to: Documents\Call of Duty\players -> right click the "options.3.cod22" -> open with editor and check for the RendererWorkerCount. Set it to the amount of cores your CPU has, minus 1 of total cores. (e.g. with an 8-core CPU, put a 7)

I had the same problem and found that if I opened the game in "Big Picture Mode" then it fixed the issue.

Part of the recent patches to "optimize". I had the same issue with one of the patches it lowered my FPS by 50 and I was at all max settings. Now I'm using minimal graphics settings. Whoever is doing the patches are freaking terrible at their job.

I can barely play any more even with 100+ fps still the smoothness has been changed. I'm getting owned at this point. I stopped playing for a week hoping when I came back it would be fixed. Still nothing.

Use to also be constant 150FPS now I'm getting anywhere from 80-130 bouncing all over the place.

I've gotten so use to having amazing settings that lowering it feels like a freaking crime at this point.

as far as iam aware you should set it to -1 core of your total cores.

exactly man, i get the same problem, my original fps was 80 and after these optimization patches i et 40-50 yesterday.... i did the set cores to cpu cores thing already...lowered my graphics setting even doesnt help at all, tried vertify integrtity reset my shade in game, none works. my cpu usage fluctuates too much from 50%-100%.

spec: 8600k+ rtx 3070 +16GB ram +nvme ssd

i do not have bitdefender tho... i think i found out the issue.... i was playing on a 220ping server with my friend.... on my local server with 50 ping i get 70-80 fps.... this game is horrible...
