38 files failed to validate.
Every time I verify files it says 38 files to validate. My game has crashed before main menu every single time and I've verified about nine times now always getting the same result. I've even verified twice in a row before booting a game and I still get the same result. Could use some help.

just read this whole discussion and yet none of these fixes have worked for me. I have been trying to fix this for nearly 3 days now and its becoming a joke.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix?

Not that I have found, been in this boat since the pre-launch.

This is just a bad take on the problem overall. If the game is crashing consistently then there is likely a bad file. Even if it only crashes every hour it's still a pain in the ass that you don't want to deal with when you're trying to have fun and is likely being caused by a corrupt file. Validating after crashing is better than doing nothing and suffering through it.

Hey y'all. So I wasn't able to start up my mw2 all of a sudden; then I also got 38 missing files after doing steam file integrity check.

Here's when my problem occured:
- after I went into the property files of cod.exe and changed tbem to 1) run as admin 2)disable full screen optimizations 3) scaling done by application

Here's my fix:

Ran steam in administration mode..

Hope this helps some of ya'll!

And please be positive and nice to ppl out there in Cod. Man is it ever toxic; ultimately, toxicity does no party any good. Peace and love y'all.

would redownloading the game solve this problem? i just deleted the player file as someone suggested and it not only didnt fix the problem but it wiped out all my progress. I dont have discord so thats not my problem . frustrating because the game worked perfectly for 4 days and then just started acting up . im on pc windows 11.

Good on you. Let us know what they say since most of us are struggling to receive a response. I can't believe how common this issue is. Been dealing with 33 missing files through 2 whole campaign runs, waited for season 1 to gain 5 more missing files. I wish anyone with this problem nothing but good luck.

so when you verify integrity you don't get any missing files anymore?

OK so. 2 things i did to fix it.

go to game properties and then the dlc tab. untick the campaign.

allow cod, bootstrapper and crashhandler through your firewall on your computer

I was wondering if validating after installing is what was screwing the pooch. Nevertheless I think i do have MW2 FIXED now!
-I uninstalled steam
-installed System Mechanic tool by iolo (after getting Armoury Crate to FINALLY reinstall thru ASUS support email links) System mechanic was suggested THROUGH the ASUS Armoury crate app, so i felt it was safe, came with free 30 trial. Most "tool" apps especially ad based ones should all die and burn in hell, but this one seems legit. Even better than the Norton one actually.
---After running all the courses with System Mechanic and several reboots I then reinstalled steam rebooted deep scan again with System Mechanic (THE MAIN THING HERE IS FIXING REGISTRY ISSUES, but i did everything for peace of mind..over..and over..triple double checking).
--reboot again install MW2 from steam after only selecting multiplayer DLC (whether that part was necessary idk just user choice ig to modulate the process; didnt want to download 65gb for the 10th time in a week so 25gb felt better).
hey bro, you should uninstall it, it has a crypto miner in it and doesnt the name of the "company" or whatever "iolo" sound kinda absurd? like yolo but with an i? anyways im having the same warzone 2 problem and tried this. its a prolly both malware and a crypto miner inside your pc doing it in favor of "iolo". it didnt fix anything.
