Are VPNs getting people banned?

Question in the title. It's very annoying to have to drop vpn (especially if it's set at router level) just to play the game. It's also unsafe, as some people really need the vpn to be able to browse safely from ... less permissive countries. Just curious.

And "Any attempt to hide, disguise, or obfuscate your identity or the identity of your hardware devices may result in a permanent suspension." does not include a VPN at all

As I dont use a VPN I dont really mind. But there you have it, ask your friend and you will know why your VPN is not considered by riccochet.
