Cannot launch, 18 Files corrupted.
Activision fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cashgrab game. There is no support for bugs or crashes and this launch has been shambolic. For anyone who knows how to fix and be able to even start the name, please let me know :)

Hey i sent an FR, my bootstrapper says this: Failed to start game process (740): "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty HQ\cod.exe" "cod.exe hdeyguxs3zaumvlgvybm2vyc".
[5612] 11/02/22 11:52:59: AppCompatFlags [HKEY_CURRENT_USER] (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty HQ\cod.exe) - (~ DISABLEDXMAXIMIZEDWINDOWEDMODE RUNASADMIN WIN8RTM)

U need to remove the start up launch options you have added to the game...
This is breaking it....
DISABLED X MAXIMIZED WINDOWED MODE = forced full screen window mode.
RUN AS ADMIN = Ran with Admin permissions.
WIN8RTM = Run in Windows 8 Compatibility mode.

The game needs none of this to run and infact breaks it.
If you try thing like this and they do nothing for you...perhaps undoing them maybe a good idea.

Thank you ok heres what you need to do. Uninstall the game, locate where you have your steam installed. For me FOR EXAMPLE i have steam installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.

Once you find out where you have steam installed i want you to install MW2 into that drive. When installing, you will be prompt with where you would like to install MW2 in this case i want to put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam since that is where i have steam installed. The reason why you are getting "cod.exe hdeyguxs3zaumvlgvybm2vyc" is because steam isnt recognizing it.

you are real one @ladyofdarkness. thanks so much. :)

Doesn't work.

I still get 'Success Launching "cod.exe hdeyguxs3zaumvlgvybm2vyc"' even on my other PC where it actually loads.

Make a refund until the problem is fixed, and even better until the problem is fixed and discounts on the game. Only in this way is there a ghostly chance to influence a company that considers it normal to release a buggy product for the price of a game and make us free beta testers.

All the things he's saying can be changed from windows. Does your game launch and then immediately crash or does it not even do anything and just show the play button again?

Think I found the FIX

Virtual memory

1. System/Settings/Advanced

2. Change setting of paging file for all drives

3. Choose drive is installed on

4. Custom Size
How to calculate Custom Size for your System
Initial Size ( Calc RAM x 1.5 ) eg. 16GB RAM x1.5 = 2400 (add the two Zeros)
Max Size ( Calc Initial Size x 3 ) eg. 2400 x 3=7200

***As long as the paging file is set for the drive the GAME is installed on, it seems to fix the crashes and improve performance.

Hope this helps.
This has nothing to do with the game. If it worked for you it means that you didn't have enough space in cache page, but normally everyone has this set to acceptable values. So just a coincidence I think

i hit play then the play button changes to stop then after about 10 seconds it changes back to play

same for me. Have had this issue for days
Delete ‘GameOverlayRenderer.dll’ from the Steam Directory, It turns out that the GameOverlayRenderer.dll that is present inside Steam’s directory can stop functioning properly sometimes, which causes issues when you want to launch games. Removing or moving this file from the Steam directory can help you overcome this issue.

Right-click on the Steam shortcut from your desktop. Select the Open file location option. Once you’re inside the Steam directory, search for a file named “GameOverlayRenderer.dll” and delete it. Now, close the File Explorer window and relaunch Steam. After that, try to launch the games that were giving you issues and see if you can launch them without any issues.
